Judging by the way the pro teams love the niggle and go on with things the amateur rugby in Argentina must be full of all sorts of shenanigans

Although the Highlanders are up by quite a few points and will win this game comfortably, the Jaguares play much better than the Aussie teams that played the other NZ franchises this weekend. If the Jags didn't make so many mistakes and were more disciplined, they could score many more points and make life difficult for the Landers.

A lot has been said already about how disappointing the Jags have been this season. Still, I think they've shown so much more potential than the other newbies, Kings and Sunwolves, that I'm quite sure they'll do much better next year.

How good are the NZ teams looking this weekend? And I even include the Blues in that statement. All 5 teams in great form.

well, they are almost player by player the exact Argentine test team, and taking that into consideration they absolutely suck ass. Super Rugby did not get any better with the inclusion of these three teams.

Waratahs certainly played better than that rabble

That would have been unreasonable to expect in the first year.

The Jaguares (and the Sunwolves) have awful travel schedules, unlike the other 16 teams, something that I see as a mitigating factor. I hope they'll be able to deal with it better next year.

I dont think it was unreasonable to have expected them to be much more competitive than they have, laden with INternaitonal talent they have been disappointing.

Yeah I think the Jaguares will go better next year after having a year under their belt and they won't have to play any NZ sides next season. They've also lost a lot of close games this season so it could have been a lot different for them if they managed to close a few of those game out.

Still, it's important to have them in this comp to help develop Argentine rugby.

Stupid yellow for Faddes. Hopefully it's not going to cost the Landers their bonus point.

some class A rubbish dished up in that 2nd half, especially by the Jaguares, but the Highlanders guilty of trying too hard to play Harlem Globetrotters style. Still, BP win, 24/25 possible points for NZ teams this weekend.

0/25 for AUS teams :mocking:

I wonder whether the Sanzaar judiciary is going to look at that tackle from Osborne that looked like a tip tackle.

Pretty messy game in the end. Lots of niggle as can be expected playing the Jaguars.

Thought the Jags were lucky not to have their 6 yellowed for the penalty that resulted in him warning them. Their 11 seemed to like running in from miles to get involved too. Surprised they didn't even look at what looked like a punch from him.

Having said that this ref is one of my favorites at the moment. Seems level headed and doesn't let player bitching get to him. Explains his think well too.

Im really not warming to the Jaguars bunch of dirty, niggly bastards who like to get in and argue with the ref football style if something goes against them. Would have to be one of the most carded teams this year too.

They have been a pretty major let down because plenty of people were predicting they would win the thing on the back of the RWC. Don't think they can blame the travel either. They have sucked from the start. Wouldn't be surprised if they do well next year playing the Aussie teams rather than NZ though.

Great win for the Highlanders though. Finals secure and still a shot at top spot.

Really?? First I've heard of that. I thought they would struggle because of the pace that NZ Super rugby sides play at.

One or two did name them as a dark horse for the title. Thst was stretching it ... a lot.

There was certainly the thought that they would be well in play off contention.

Personally I'm surprised they didn't do better.

There was plenty of talk about them taking it out in their first season. Or at least people putting money on them because of the good odds. Whether that means they actually thought they were a chance or were just worth a punt i don't know. They should definitely have been better than the handful of wins they have being largely international players.
