that is pretty normal here too, in NZ the process to re-register a car that has been written off is pretty rigorous and can be costly, that said, if you know someone in the right industry to tick the right boxes for you, you can get into the insurance fraud game and register damaged cars and stage accidents...

Growing up in Canada at the time, my memory of that whole time is clear as. The drama leading up to it and then the final and watching Big Ben jump out of the blocks, almost stumbling, and then just smashing it, pulling away from Lewis the whole time
Lewis, whilst always slow out of the blocks was always strong in the middle and end of the race when those long strides would take him past the tiring and shortening strides of anyone who managed to get slightly in front of him but in this race he couldn't make any headway and only lost ground to Ben.

How about the guy out off position on the play Leon MacDonald? Instinctively didn't like his style of play from the get go with Canterbury and gave plenty of ammo to back that assessment up in black (especially when contrasted with Mils or Evans in the latter part of his career). 
For a "safe pair of hands" he made some boneheaded errors - in the republic in 00 and the 2002 Bledisloe that somehow never gets mentioned yet Dowd and Cribb cop it for their Bledisloe blemishes. Ditto on his woeful goal kicking in the semi final that IMO had a bigger effect than the early intercept. 
For a guy who played as many tests as he did tricky to think of a great Leon memory.

I think he was a pretty gutsy defender, that was probably his strongest suit yet Cullen was too and I'm pretty certain he was a pretty handy attacker.
 
My league mad mate reckons MacDonalds game would have suited the 13 man code to a tee and considers him one that would have been an awesome kiwi.

I always liked Rangi as a player, but he wasn't a centre's arsehole. And yep he did some dumb stuff and yep some players cop it unfairly - seems to be Aucklanders (Spencer, McAlister pre the fat return from Europe, Cribb) for the most part.

Ditto 90% of the posts. Almost no one in these 8 pages dislikes a normal, seemingly likeable guy & isn't sure why. Maybe just change the title now to "Sports stars you, and many other people, hate & why, and why everyone hates them"

The sports stars I've met (including some listed in this thread) have been almost always been charming, good-humoued and humble in person.
 
The big exception was Lord Sebastian Coe who I thought was a narcissistic fluffybunny of the very worst sort. Vile man.

Always thought Steve Waugh was a top bloke, but there is a certain section of the Aussie public that think he is aloof or whatever - also top drawer. Complete opposite for his twin.
