Is there any evidence against the Chinese swimmer…or is just that he’s Chinese?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
But if you google him now it’s all about the speculation of being a drugs cheat.
Absolutely shameful.
I mean if his name was Marchand no one would bat an eyelid.
The Chinese do have history so im not saying he’s definitely clean but it strikes me as a bit of racism for the moment.
Yes they most definitely would. Anybody who knows anything about swimming knows this doesn't pass the smell test. Him being Chinese doesn't exactly help given their history. Christ, accusations were levelled at Ian Thorpe back in the day. More racism?
If he was Russian?
?
Would it be "racist" to question a freak performance from a competitor from a country with form in doping if he was Russian?
I’d be suspicious if the Russians didn’t cheat. That’s my default setting.
I seem to have stirred a hornets nest here somewhat.
Both the Chinese and the Russians have been caught cheating at one time or another. And such an exceptional performance out of the blue will raise eyebrows. Regardless of the ethnicity of the athlete
Don't be silly. It most definitely has to be wacism.

Minor turnup just now. A heat in the 110m hurdles just saw Chinese athlete Xu, who looks like he is more likely to do your accounts than run track, just beat the field including the reigning Olympic champ from Tokyo. Confucius says never judge a book by its cover...
LOL I was just about to mention the Chinese hurdler who looked like he stepped out of a math competition. Still had his glasses on!
Did you see the USA gymnast who won silver on the pommel horse, looked like he should have been in Finance had his glasses on too!

@Jailbreak7 Missed it. I'm surprised that both of them weren't wearing contact lenses.

There was a french woman in the 4 x 400m and 400m hurdles with specs on. Surely that must affect your performance

Women's Skeet Shooting has been top notch
Congratulations to Chile but GBR were robbed

Scottie wins gold in the golf. The man is in another league.

The women’s road race was sensational.

So far Paris has been a roaring success. Splendid scenery with great competition. The horse riding at Versailles, cycling through Paris with the deadly
climbs thru Montmartre and beach volleyball by the Eiffel Tower it’s hard to beat. -

-
Weirdest and most boring Opening Ceremony ever, although the French loved it.
-
Too many empty seats for my liking at some events. Many more so than Barcelona, Sydney, Beijing or London.
-
The schedule feels too crowded. I think future Summer Games need to be 20-21 days long to spread the biggest events out a bit better.
-
Some really crap officiating. Amber Rutter was really robbed in the Women's Skeet Shooting today.

The schedule could be reduced dramatically if they jettisoned football, tennis, golf for starters

Turn the Football into 5 aside and play in a picturesque location. (I've played 5 aside in the Champs Du Mars, next to the Eiffel Tower and it's fucking amazing)
Turn the Golf into 9-hole knock out match play, add a fourballs tournament too.
Keep Tennis, but don't play it at the exact same venue as a Grand Slam tournament that was only two months ago.

Jamaica's Kishane Thompson was the fastest runner in the men's 100m semi finals and looked very comfortable indeed.
Simbane from Sourh Africa and Seville from Jamaica won the other semis. Noah Lyles from the US and the reigning champions Jacobs from Italy will also be in the hunt for medals in the 100m final.

Such a departure from traditional opening ceremonies was bound to be polarizing. Whether it sets the tone for future ones, we will see in LA
