Bad luck for SBW. Pretty sure Forbes was subbed might have worth while having s cool head on the pitch rather some young guy who thought running across field to get close to the touch line was a good idea.<br><br>
Might revise my thinking about what's a success for the men 7s from making the final to getting into the 1/4's.<br>
Was thinking that Titch was holding back in the World Series this year and bugger me the game plan at the olympics is exactly the same. -

All part of the plan? Sweet. -
It's karma for our media talking smack about how many medals we will win....<br><br>
Apparently we may only be able to replace 1 of SBW or Webber? Bit of confusion about?<br><br>
jeez, SBW gone from TRC is the bigger blow for me -
<p>According to One News, SBW is out for up to 9 months with a partially ruptured achilles tendon. I seriously hope for him that it won't be that long.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>With both flying reserves already used (Ormond had already replace Stanaway), they've only Messam left if another player goes down.</p> -
NZ Sevens has been relatively standing still for a few years now. <br><br>
When the push for sevens to be in the Olympics was in full swing, there seemed to be too many fans and administrators assuming guaranteed golds for NZ. <br><br>
Forgetting that the lure of the Olympics might just kick a few other nations into gear. -
<p>On the bright side, the 7s team has been seriously bad in their first game at tournaments before and gone on to win. Can seem to take a while for the wheels to start turning.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Having said that, they could be completely goneburger within 2 hours.</p> -
<p>Geezus</p>

<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">French swimmer Camille Lacourt has taken a swipe at controversial Chinese swimmer Sun Yang, saying Sun's urine was purple.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The swimming world has erupted after Australian Mack Horton called Sun a drug cheat on the opening day of the Rio Olympics, with the veteran French backstroker expressing his dismay over FINA's decision to allow him to compete.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Lacourt, who finished fifth in the 100 m backstroke final not long after Sun claimed gold in the 200m freestyle, likened the sport to athletics with a belief there are a number of athletes in each race who are taking performance enhancing drugs.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">"Sun Yang, he pisses purple," Lacourt told French radio station RMCsport.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">"When I see the 200m podium I want to be sick. I prefer to remember the crowd that cheered when we went out. I am very sad when I see my sport getting like this. I have the impression I am looking at athletics, with two or three doped in each final.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">"I hope that [swimming's world governing body] FINA is going to react and stop this massacre, because it is getting sad."</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">Sun, who served a three-month ban for doping after testing positive to trimetazidine back in 2014, has felt the brunt of criticism after Horton's choice words at the start of the games.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The atmosphere was inflamed further when, after reeling in South Africa's Chad le Clos to win Olympic gold on Monday night, Sun embraced FINA executive director Cornel Marculescu. Sun said Marculescu was like a "grandfather" to him.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">After the race, Sun was asked about his friendship with Marculescu, the FINA boss, and replied that he had been a figure of support since the controversy in Rio erupted.</span></span></div>
<div> </div>
<div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">"Marcu is a very good friend of [the] Chinese swim team and he actually watched me like a grandfather. So I was very happy to see him see me win the gold. I hope this friendship will last."</span></span></div>

Haaaaa. And instantly I feel better, such sweet tears. Lions did well eh? Hey guess what...South Africa lost to Japan over 80 odd mins at the world cup. Hilarious. -
It's probably about time Rattue writes how it's time for tiejtjens to go. <br><br>
And I might agree with him 😬 -

<p>I think this is a money thing.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Once sports hit the olympics, the coffers open for administrators. Literally tens of millions of dollars. The Aussie 7s womens team lived at the Aussie Institute of Sport for the past 18 months practicing together. Guess what that does for your game. The Mens is showing what happens when people take the sport seriously - the comps get split wide open, and big spending teams dominate.</p>

<p>If we are serious, we need to spend more and support more. </p> -

Same here, I was wondering if the Olympics had levelled things out a bit in the sevens . Losing to Jspan is a surprise though. -

<p>The stubbornness around not selecting guys like Barrett and Smith who wanted to player Super Rugby was the clincher for me. We should have made it to the semis without dropping a set if we had focused on getting the best result at Rio rather than whatever Titch decided on this year.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Hansen has never seemed terribly cheery about the 7s set up when asked about it over the past year - I suspect if we bow out on the pool stage there will be a lot of stuff leaking out about how this campaign was lock - seems like plenty going on behind the scenes and not a lot of it positive.</p> -

Wow , I can picture this poor bugger waiting furtively for anything that might represent some sort of redemption for the embarrassment of the rwc .
