I know this is the Olympics, cut throat competition and all that but having been comprehensively reamed in that race shouldn’t the Brits do the right thing and concede? If it was a rugby game it would be a 30 point lead deep into the second half.

On the other hand the Danish rider was a ginger and deserves nothing but scorn and failure.

    @machpants UCI

but I don't see anything on their twitter

scanning the rules - the catch rule applies so Denmark should be thru.

But Poms could appeal for dangerous riding taking their team out..

If the race had been called over there would never have been a collision in the first place....

yeh they have to catch them to call it over. apparently gun went just as he smacked him.

anyway common sense prevails Danes thru I presume we're up against aussies.

Poms could feel more aggrieved if they looked like they were in with a shot of coming 4th but they were miles off

A quick glance at current Track and Field WR and heres the ones that its hard not to think hmmmm (based on prejudice and deep seated suspicions of course..)

Mens Hammer throw - Russian 1986
Mens Discus - East German 1986

    Womans 400m - East German 1985
    Womans 800m - Czech 1983
Womans High jump - Bulgarian 1987
Womans Long Jump - Russian 1988
Womans Shot Put - Russian 1987
Womans Discus - East German 1987
    Womans 10km Walk - Russian 1990
    Womans 4 x 400 Relay - Russian 1988
    Womans 4 x 800 Relay - Russian 1984

Men dont seem so dodgy, most records these days have been broken in the last 20 years.

But the woman, amazing how many records were set in the mid-late 80's and have never been broken since...1987/1988 seems especially to have been the height of the drug i mean track and field program..

Most of those women had more testosterone than Laurel Hubbard...

Top Secret is the most underrated comedy of all time. Soooooo good.

Not sure if she dialled down the difficulty level from normal. Comms saying that those in the gymnastics community think she made the right decision to withdraw, that her problems were real and significant

Weren't they slower? We were the fastest loser, the British were slow as their 4th had to catch up

It was a semi though. Aussie were in the plate final draw.

If I couldn't feel where I was spinning I wouldn't be keen either. Easy neck breaking opportunity

I thought it logical that the SF losers face off. Other posters beg to differ, that it is based on fastest time for the entire field

Stuff journos are also saying we'll ride against Oz - but, I think that's because they're sourcing WtW! 🙂

Results page has Italy vs Denmark (final) and NZ vs Aust (3rd/4th) with this caveat.

Due to crash between Denmark (DEN) and Great Britain (GBR), the results of Men's Team Pursuit First Round are pending.

@bovidae Yeah - I just looked at the same thing.

That's odd - have they DQed the Brits?

Isn't it always the two losers in the SFs ride for the bronze?

    Willie's right...

Progression: The winners of heats 3 and 4 in the First Round ride the final for the gold and silver medals. The remaining six teams will be ranked by their times in the First Round and will be paired as follows: The two fastest teams ride the final for the bronze medal. The next two fastest teams ride the final for 5th and 6th places. The last two teams ride the final for 7th and 8th places.
