Women's Black Sticks v Australia at 12.05am (Tokyo 2020 ch. 4). That's probably going to be a tough match.
-
Scoreless first half. Very defensive game by both sides.
-
Half time: it's still half time between NZ and Australia (hockey women).
-
Scary stuff. Charlton took a hockey ball to the head - got up and carried on like it was nothing.
Black Sticks competing very well - just lacking a little class in the attacking third.
-
Bugger, the Aussies have scored.
0 - 1 Oz
-
Two great saves from our keeper.
We are struggling to create any attack
-
Still 0 - 1 to Australia after the 3rd quarter.
I think the Black Sticks can be happy to be only 1 behind.
-
Full time: Black Sticks women 0 - 1 Australia
Entertaining game. Much better result for the Black Sticks than I expected, but it's still a loss, unfortunately. Hopefully, they still make the Quarter Finals.

Geez, there's a 13-year-old from Canada in the next heat.
Reminds me of the 1974 Comm Games in Chch where a young Canadian won gold and cried into her teddy bear in the medal ceremony. Just googled: no luck. Will Google harder.
I think it might have been Patti Stenhouse?

Stuff all but saying the ROC rowers aren't clean. Probably correct, just not caught

The Russians, or this Belarusian chick?

Sunisa Lee wins gold in the individual all round gymnastics for the USA. She was their best performed member of the team that won the silver earlier in the week

She competes for Russia, not Belarus. So both

Putting aside the question of whether golf should be at the Olympics (I think not), seeing it there highlights a rather bizarre sporting situation where the competitors have “on-field” support and input from a caddy/coach on every move they make.
Either make it a team of two (with both having to be from the same country) or make it an individual sport only with no caddies.
In cycling they remove the outside support of radios to advise tactics. Golf should take a similar move. -
Just watching the women's 100m....is it typical for the athletes to have to wear bits of paper with their names and numbers?
Probably my memory failing but I don't recall seeing it before (at this level).

@crucial give them golf carts, speed it up too!

Emma Twigg in the Women's Single Sculls final at 12.33pm (Tokyo 2020 channel 6).
-
Go Emma!
Edit: she's in lane 4.
-
-
Twigg's lead after 1500m is 2.73 seconds. Will it be enough?
-
Gold!!!
-
@stargazer YESSSS!
-
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!
-
Redemption.
-
great row there!
Started strong and just kept inching ahead!
But man, that looks like hard work!
-
Awesome. Delighted for her. After 2 4ths, would have hated an Ostapcuk sort of moment. So good.
-
An Olympic best time from Twigg.
-
What was the gap to second? I was out

About 3.5 seconds. She never looked like losing.
-
It's funny that rowers obviously spend so much time with shades on that all 3 think nothing of keeping their sunglasses on top of their heads in the most photographed moment of their lives.

Fuck it’s a hard watch. Droning commentary, slow, no graphics to give an idea of how your country is going…..
Not a good ad for the sport. -
Women’s eights about to go.
-
It's wierd seeing men in the women's teams
-
Twigg looked like she was out for a practice row. Even at the end all the other competitors were lying back , chests heaving and she was just smiling and didn't seem to be breathing heavily at all.
Well done to her. Blitzed them!!
-
Where’s lay down Sally when you need her?
-
Kiwis silver, Canada looking good in front, tough race to win from here
-
We’re gaining

China cranking it!
