The women looked impressive. First time I have really watched them and they have a very good set of skills. I think the Aussies were more impressive. It will have to be a huge effort if we run into them.

The good news is that we shouldn't play them till the final (unless there's an upset at some point anyway).
-

Football Ferns beat Colombia 1-0 :good: but the ref apparently got sucked in by a dirty cheating dive from one of the Colombians and our captain got sent off, ruling her out of the next match if they can't get it overturned!! :ireful:

I flicked that on just in time to see the incident. I'm far from knowledgeable in the rules of soccer, but even I could see that was an absolute howler of a decision. Its an absolute travesty if she misses a game because of that. The bloody cheating coke cook and the ref need to be red carded instead! -

Player suspensions in these situations will help curb it

Possibly some of the worst refereeing you'll ever see

Not your finest moment Gladys

I don't think what the Colombian player did was that bad. Both players went for it and there was contact. More the referees fault than the player's.

Come on, she couldn't have hit the deck quicker if she tried, and why? Her hand touched the other girls?
Nothing but a filthy cheat! -

Ahem but did you actually watch the clip? A trip to OPSM for you!!

It was a BS act but sadly the way the game is reffed this is encouraged
-
The Aussies have started well in the pool, so the wankfest is in full swing.

Heads up guys, you're one of two countries who give a fuck about swimming.

Loved our Archery team winning bronze, love it when a medal comes out of left field like that.

Best result of day 1 for me was the Boomers putting the French to the sword, which surprised me. Frogs have a decent team - Parker, Gobert, Diaw, Batum to name a few. If we snag a medal it will be a great achievement.
-

It's the only sport where you get to have the same fucking race a hundred times because you do it slightly different.
-

Good 26-7 win from the NZ women over France. I expected more opposition from the French, but it was very one-sided.

Woodman is just getting better and better. Not just attacking very well, but also tackling like a boss!

Gayle Broughton limped off the field. When asked after the game, coach Sean Horan explained that she's had a ruptured ACL for about 5 months now and 'sometimes it moves a bit and becomes sore'. That's interesting; I always thought you would be out with a ruptured ACL but apparently that's not always the case. If she can't play anymore, she'll be replaced at the semi-final stage (day 3) and not sooner.

NZ's Quarter Final game starts at 9.30am. Opponent is the best no. 3 after the pool stage.
-

Just read this tweet from ONE news reporter Kimberlee Downs: "BREAKING: IPC has suspended the Russian Paralympic Committee with immediate effect. No Russians will compete at Paralympics."

And then: "IPC President Sir Philip Craven says situation is tragic and catastrophic. Says he's "disgusted" by Russian govt."
-

The 2 road races have been excellent viewing.

Incredible finish to the women's race.

Plus a sickening crash to the race leader 15 minutes or so before the end, I genuinely hope not fatal.
-

I think we might have a medal! Shooting.
