Piutau isn't in France?
I know - that was my point. The four provinces of Ireland with Kiwi coaches obviously have better discipline and structures than French rugby, even at its best.
And I take the point abut guys pissing off to play for the $$$ instead of the jersey. But what is the solution? Pay them more money?? Offer a sabbatical?? We have that conundrum already in keeping Cruds, BFA and Izzy around let alone TH props. -

Ulster - Les Kiss, Aus
Munster - Rassie Erasmus, SA
Leinster - Leo Cullen, Irl
Connacht - Pat Lam, NZ/Samoa -
@Pot-Hale
Rob Penney. Jonno Gibbes, Mark Anscombe, Joe Schmidt and Pat Lam have at one time all coached/or are still coaching in the Irish provinces -

Schmidt, Lam and Gibbes (now at Clermont rate highly.

Piutau has been ripping it up lately, (and wouldn't look out of place in an AB jersey) unlike most of the exports to France who appear to get fat and lazy on the good food, and unholy diet of cheese, bread and wine - Joe Tekori, taumalolo, tuitavake and tameifuna spring to mind.
Can either Pauliasi Manu or Kane Hames play both sides?Tameifuna was rated the best THP in the Top 14 for the 2015-2016 season. I think the white and blue stripes make him look fatter but he seems fitter than when he was playing for the Chiefs. He has improved his scrummaging dramatically.
Among exports who do very well in France are Rory Grice and Toby Arnold. Not the greatest names in NZ rugby but they are pretty useful for their respective teams.Tameifuina looked dreadfully unfit when I watched Racing play Glasgow.
One game cannot be generalized to a whole season. I was talking about the 2015-2016 season when he was named best THP of the Top 14. If he had been unfit, he wouldn't have earned this.

Who gives a shit about Piutau? For whatever reason he chose to cash in instead of having any sort of decent All Black career. Not the sort of guy i want playing for the ABs. Would rather guys who are prepared to stay and fight for a jersey even if it costs them millions.
Evans is in the same basket. Could have played 50 tests with all the injuries Carter had after 2007 but chose the cash. He ripped it up in the NH but guys like Donald and Slade who stuck around have RWC winners medals.I gave a shit when Fourie du Preez was bombing NMS in the RWC semifinal and we were getting pantsed.

Yeah if only he was selected instead of NMS.
Imagine what could have been. We might have won the rwc and piutau would have been the longterm 14. Oh wait, we did win it and Piutau was chasing the cash anyway. -

This post is utterly ridiculous.

At the risk of setting off some Aucklanders and Wellingtonians, Dagg's turned out to be a better right winger than NMS or Piutau.
I'd say that Piutau can't wait to leave Ulster. Was watching him at a game the other evening. He looked bored as shit and pissed off by the dross surrounding him.

It's his own fault. Anyone following Ulster knows their pack is crap. Hence no quality ball. I doubt he renews at Ulster. Hopefully he stops chasing money and comes home. Should slot straight back in if smith and Dagg are gone.

Yep agree with you on the pack BT. But there's something oddly brittle about Ulster this season as well. Have this funny feeling they'll be fighting hard for a Euro Cup top 6 spot come the business end in May.
If Piutau has any sense, then he should head straight back to NZ. He hasn't been "cutting it up" much this season - I was astonished to see him with constant hands on hip and ambling round the pitch whilst his side were getting rogered at the RDS with his backline marking poor for a couple of soft tries.
Pienaar and van der Merwe will be gone by season with Nucifora unlikely to approve any foreign stocks unless you're wearing red and your name is Rassie. Despite the best attendance in the league, mediocrity abounds up north - they need a serious squad shift in thinking and commitment.

Yes, NMS has always played awfully for Wellington...
And Piutau was seen more as a left winger

If the article is to believed...Smith to Pau, Cruden wants to leave but making up his mind between Montpellier and some English clubs...if Smith leaves Dagg will sign to stay in NZ...
-
@Billy-Tell hopefully. Losing Ben and Israel would be a major setback

Ben Smith will be 31 come the Lions series, we are going to lose the Ben Smith we know and love due to age/injury sooner rather than later.
I would honestly be more worried if they bet the farm on Smith and that meant the funds weren't there for the next round of guys.
We gutted the entire 10-12-13 nexus and turned it over to career fringe players, rookies, and Barrett who had barely played 10 at test level and things were - fine. The removal of Smith and Dagg would have far less of an effect than that turnover.
Pau certainly seem to have a type of player in mind with Conrad Smith, Colin Slade and Tom Taylor already at the club.

@rotated there was lots of concerned mutterings when NZR signed McCaw & DC on for long term contracts
I'd be half wary of throwing too much money at a 30 year-old outside back. They tend to find their form (speed) suddenly falling off a cliff, and then you are left with a white elephant. They should offer Ben Smith a very good contract, but no way they should match the sums reportedly being offered by Pau.
