Arguably the most intriguing match of the round this week.

So many questions - how is Moana going to bounce back from that hiding on Saturday? Is Ardie going to play the house down against his old side? Will the Canes put the marker down and send Moana packing?

I'm not sure whether Moana will change too much of their side, they'll be asking for a big lift in attitude after simply not turning up in Hamilton.

The Canes will be sweating on IWL's injury, looked pretty bad as he limped off the field against the Reds. Plummer played well off the bench so I'm not too worried in that department. Love could also be an omission for this game after tweaking his arm at the beginning of the game. Brett Cameron will start at 10 if Love is ruled out.

I don't see Moana getting up. The Canes are getting better, and I think Moana emptied the tank against the Blues.

I hope to be wrong but I think the Canes get up by 20-30 points.

I'm hoping you're right. They might just be motivated one last time to put on a show, but mentally coming back from a loss like they have will take some doing.

The Canes will want to start fast, knowing that if they begin to pile on points early Moana will likely go back into their shells.

This is what I'm expecting too. Moana have pulled off a couple of big results this year and are stronger than the sum of their parts, but the Hurricanes aren't to get rolled one week out from the finals.

We owe them a loss. Send Ardie's lot packing with nought

Agreed, this is a much higher functioning side than the bitsy Canes team that lost against them earlier in the year. I'm picking Canes to win 13+ but I expect Moana to be a lot better.

Hard to be any worse than what we dished up last game.

Harkin injured? Hopefully it's just a minor niggle.

I think Cameron coming off the bench was working really well for the Canes, hope they go back to that once Harkin is fit.

No Aumua, Harkin or IWL in the 23.

Devery to start at hooker. Tucker comes on to the bench. TJ Clarke on the bench to debut. Rova on the bench also.

Oh no, here we go. Do you know how bad those injuries are? Man, we can't keep Aumua on the field. I think injuries are going to be our downfall this year. Just can't keep our best team on the park unfortunately.

Good to see TJ Clarke on the bench. He's probably deserved more of an opportunity before now tbh.

Who's not there out of Sullivan and Sinkinson?

So based on that information, the team will be the following, still pretty strong tbh.

    1. Numia
    2. Devery
    3. Lomax
    4. Gallagher
    5. Plummer
    6. Flanders
    7. Kirifi (cc)
    8. Lakai
    9. Roigard
    10. Cameron
    11. Fineanganofo
    12. Umaga-Jensen
    13. Proctor (cc)
    14. Sullivan
    15. Love
    16. Tuputupu
    17. Rakete-Stones
    18. Tosi
    19. Tucker
    20. Shields (cc)
    21. Enari
    22. Rova
    23. Clarke

@Canes4life No Mafileo. Stones for him. Flanders starting too. Sullivan is back.

Nah just know Aumua is dealing with concussion and IWL they are unsure about knee at this stage, TBC.

Have adjusted the team above. Hopefully Aumua isn't too bad and just needs a week off. Was IWL's injury a season ender, looked quite bad?

Aumua is a loss, as is IWL. As long as we try to play as a cohesive pack, as opposed to relying on one outs, we will hopefully be too much for MP, who will be smarting after having their pants pulled down by the Chiefs

Would love to see Clarke get plenty of mins if we are well ahead. He starred at FB for the Lions in the NPC, has a little bit of Andre Taylor about him in the way he hits the line. Has a really good boot as well which will be important later in the game.

Secure the win first, then we can give guys a run

He will provide plenty of impact.

One game that springs to mind last year was the Lions dismantling of Canterbury where Clarke, Harkin, Preston and Higgins cut them to shreds. The latter three have made statements on this competition this year already, great opportunity for Clarke to do the same.

Cool to see TJ Perenara at training. Great player to have training against the starters. He's been there a couple weeks which has coincided in Roigard hitting form. Coincidence? I don't think so. Great having a guy like him helping prepare the side for a tough match this weekend, especially ensuring guys like Roigard remain sharp.
