Apple TV app only on a couple of TVs (we have too many TVs)

It's just some of the LG ones. The media room TV is too old. Fuck knows about the patio one.

Binge doesn't work on all of them either. It's frustrating as fuck.

My (Samsung) TV is about five years old which seems to be ancient in modern terms. None of the apps are maintained for it any more. Stan won't even stream live sport on it.

So my solution is to chromecast everything from my main PC. Less than ideal.

@antipodean we had the same with stan on our last tv, 5 years and it wouldnt broadcast sport so would have to do it through chromecast, new one works a treat...but have no expectations 3 years from now

Stan works on my 8 year old LG. In fact Stan seems to work everywhere.

With AFL and NRL season coming up fast i need a solution. And it looks like that solution is buying another piece of hardware of Telstra. fluffybunnies

There's no way apps can keep up with updating for all the various TVs on the market, so I guess they do x amount of work for new TVs and that's that.

I hated Chromecasting for the short period I have Chromecast only due to having to use another device yet again, which is why I switched to Apple TV. I like to just sit and point my remote and be done with it.

Also, I was looking on JB and it appears Chromecasts in the old style don't exist anymore, the new ones are boxes like Apple TV, Hubble etc.

Why? Just get one of boxes already mentioned or Amazon Fire or Roku (they're cheaper) - no need to give any more money to Telstra.

@Nepia i assumed it was the other way...the TV was "old" and couldnt support the lastest version of the app

I think the bigger problem is Samsung can't be arsed updating their OS so the apps can be updated.

Having secured permission from the Minster for War and Finances to get a new car, I'm not replacing my TV until it dies. Although it may have an "accident"...

Not sure, I thought it was just a new non aligned box.

Quick google and I'm spelling it wrong, it's Hubbl and it's a Foxtel owned brand.

I think it's the same thing isn't it? The devs could ensure compatibility with app updates but it's not worth them doing so.

Do they not do Google TV's down under? Only streaming app my telly doesn't have is skygo.

Have to laugh at a hundy AUD being expensive though, it's around 100gbp for sky with sports over here, not including adding TNT for another 30 and premier for 20 and fuck knows what BT sport costs.

    Apple TV app

I think @Nepia was referring to Apple's media player box.

    Apple TV 4K

    Apple TV 4K

Apple TV 4K. Our best audio and video quality. Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos. Works seamlessly with Apple devices, services and smart home.

I have an ancient non Smart TV and Google Chromecast with remote (now replaced by Google TV Streamer) works fine. Got it after Telstra TV shut down.

WTF! What type of TV, you should get at least a couple of years with the apps on a new TV.

The problem with Hubbl is that while it is a clever way to manage all streaming and from memory you get a discount when you run a few through it, you still have to use kayo or binge, which are just shit apps. This is probably the main reason that the foxtel box product is still useful.
