Black Caps tour of India

@MN5 He'd still be a fair way short of Sir Garfield's batting average, which barring Bradman is among the best ever.
And Gary opened the bowling, then came bck to bowl both left arm orthodox and chinamen. Extraordinary.
I don't know why more modern bowlers don't try this. I don't see why Tim Southee couldn't bowl some decent part time spin. Plenty of batsmen can. He should be at least as good as Joe Root.
Lack of innovative thinking!
Colin Miller. Weirdo Tasmanian (but I repeat myself) with the blue hair.

Conway had a couple of near misses, but seemed to be asking for it, trying to play across the line. He wasn't thinking straight. Literally
Time for one of Young, Latham or Mitchell to make a big score. I think we need to keep this aggressive approach early on.
-
@canefan they are trying to negate the huge spin by sweeping etc, it's not a bad tactic but you have to be adept at the shot or LBW comes into play

I think India will be much better in their second innings, so how many runs do you all reckon we need on the board?
300-350 enough to defend?
A lead of 400 with two days to bowl them out on a crumbling wafer biscuit of a wicket.
-
@Gunner If we can bat some time, the pitch should continue to deteriorate - the more time we bat, the more runs we get and the more difficult the pitch gets.
Right now it doesn't look unplayable.
You'd think a lead of 300 would be enough - but, who knows!
-
Why on earth haven't they bowled Bumrah yet

Jadeja has a crazy first class batting record. A triple ton to his name.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. He’d be the best all rounder of all time if he managed that at test level.
He actually has three first class triples.

Will Young, the batsman who looks great scoring 20. Time to move on from him
-
@SouthernMann he's just come off 33 and 48*
-
@SouthernMann Who is the better alternative? Hopefully one comes along... I sort of feel Young has kept the role as backup batter, because there is simply nobody putting any pressure on. Hopefully by the time we get to the start of the next WTC cycle in 12 months, someone (Muhammad Abbas?) puts their hand up.

So frustrating. You’re exactly right, it’s not like he looks out of place but that big defining score still hasn’t come yet

They play such garbage during the break on Sky. If it was up to me I'd just be playing highlights of past Black Caps glory, like the WTC final or other epic matches we've won. Would be way more fun to watch.
