@MN5 Little Kane would be a hell of a player if his batting average was a few notches higher, could bowl like Chris Martin - and could chuck in some decent spin as well.

    And field like Glenn Phillips!

Well yeah, Sobers could do it all but he was ‘only’ brilliant at a couple of things

Time to join the select few with a series win in India.

This seems like a good time to quote myself!

Conway had a couple of near misses, but seemed to be asking for it, trying to play across the line. He wasn't thinking straight. Literally

@MN5 He'd still be a fair way short of Sir Garfield's batting average, which barring Bradman is among the best ever.

And Gary opened the bowling, then came bck to bowl both left arm orthodox and chinamen. Extraordinary.

I don't know why more modern bowlers don't try this. I don't see why Tim Southee couldn't bowl some decent part time spin. Plenty of batsmen can. He should be at least as good as Joe Root.

    Lack of innovative thinking!

Colin Miller. Weirdo Tasmanian (but I repeat myself) with the blue hair.

Time for one of Young, Latham or Mitchell to make a big score. I think we need to keep this aggressive approach early on.

Devon gets a feathery bottom edge which would have saved him on review. Ugh. Then Young comes out with the reverse sweep. What is with all our boys playing across the line?

They need to play positively, because it will be a matter of time before a ball has their number on it. So long as they don't become reckless

@canefan they are trying to negate the huge spin by sweeping etc, it's not a bad tactic but you have to be adept at the shot or LBW comes into play

I think India will be much better in their second innings, so how many runs do you all reckon we need on the board?

    300-350 enough to defend?

    300 would be good

A lead of 400 with two days to bowl them out on a crumbling wafer biscuit of a wicket.

@Gunner If we can bat some time, the pitch should continue to deteriorate - the more time we bat, the more runs we get and the more difficult the pitch gets.

Right now it doesn't look unplayable.

You'd think a lead of 300 would be enough - but, who knows!

Jadeja has a crazy first class batting record. A triple ton to his name.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. He’d be the best all rounder of all time if he managed that at test level.

He actually has three first class triples.
