Black Caps tour of India

Latham, Young, Ravindra and Santner looked decent.
Most of the other guys were flailing around - even though Devon got runs.
Our spinners are unlikely to be good enough to run through the Indians like Sundar did to us, so unless something odd happens, I think we're likely already cooked.

One for not many before stumps is a decent result, keeps the door ajar for us but we'll need to come out strong tomorrow morning

The joys of fielding a Test number 6 with a batting average of 35.
Nothing wrong with a test average of 35 at number 6. That isn't the problem. The fact that he's averaging sub-20 for the last year, , and been poor in Asia is.
I really like Blundell's batting. But .... it's time. New keeper for England series IMO. Got to keep re-newing this jaded team.
Fletcher and Cleaver had purple patches/domestic peaks that tailed off a season or 2 ago. Looks like they may suffer from bad timing. Mitch Hay in pole position, a bit lucky in his timing, probably a bit earlier than is ideal. But is mainly a selection call that needs to be made to keep the over-32 year olds cohort on their toes and hungry , rather than pressure from player(s) below.

Yeah generally your number six batsman is a keeper or an all rounder ( all rounder in the genuine sense or in an occasionally bowls so we’ll call him an all rounder in a New Zealand sense )
35 is very typical, again provided they do something else too.

I live in hope, but I’m not sure how much success our two orthodox spinners will have. Ashwin and Washington bowled with variety, varying their off breaks and even then we were looking good-ish at 4/200.

.Good God - that was a horrible swipe, Virat!
Thought Shubman's was worth a review, because it didn't really straighten and he'd got a decent stride in. Wouldn't have saved him, but an umpire's call so the review wouldn't have been wasted!
Might finally be Santner's day?
