Australian Federal Election
-

Unfortunately for us, we are in a very strong right-tard area where the Libs have a stranglehold...

http://www.abc.net.au/news/federal-election-2016/guide/brfd/

No matter which way we vote, it's not going to make an ounce of difference. I think we'll just vote Green for the hell of it and to stir up the right-tards.

And my hatiest of hated political parties are contesting here, the Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group)
-

http://www.abc.net.au/news/federal-election-2016/guide/canb/

Very safe Labor seat.

Apart from some train spotter, there are three female candidates from the Libs, Labor and Greens.
-

It smells awfully dodgy.
It seems questionable to me that MPs can use a taxpayer funded allowance to pay for this kind of software (and Labor are guilty of this too).
It seems farking ludicrous that this company was the second highest donor to the Liberal party last financial year.

On the face of it, it looks like the Libs have been channelling taxpayers money into a company they own for an overpriced software license and then donating the excess monies back to themselves to spend on Lib party expenses.
Has anyone read an article that successfully defends the Libs on this?

Interesting article about age breakdown of polls:

http://junkee.com/what-would-parliament-look-like-if-only-young-people-could-vote/80926
-
I thought maybe the Australian / news.com.au might have supported the Libs... but I cant tell because Ive blocked Ruperts websites at my firewall on account of him being a despicable human being.
-

So I watched Q&A last night to see what Turnbull had to say.

I found he struggled to get his point across - it seemed at times he would stop mid thought and start a new thought and bring the two together... rather than just being able to talk simply about when he thinks.

Very disappointed that neither Parakeelia or Domestic Violence got a mention last night yet the reduction of the arts budget did. Poor.
-

Turnbull is a crap communicator and a crap PM. The guy is a media myth who was found out in record time when he got the job he believed was rightfully his. The only thing in his favour is that Shorten is even worse. I read that these two are the least favoured and least preferred leaders going into an election for 40 years. That doesn't surprise me in the least.

Really? I reckon these two are much better than Abbott and Gillard. Or Abbott and Rudd.

Yes and you also think Cheika's an awesome coach.

In all seriousness, Abbott vs Gillard was pretty uninspiring, but Abbott vs Rudd was a no-brainer. -
If Abbott was half as good at being PM as he was as a barking dog opposition leader, he'd still be in the job.

As it was, he Steven Bradbury'd the shit out of the election he won. Politics in Australia is on a dire spot, as you say.

Candidates getting the arse, TV ads that make no sense, policies that seem entirely reactive.

Shorten has actually improved a little, but that's not hard.

Malcolm is hamstrung by the Ghost of Tony's Cronies.

I know you don't agree with that last statement, Rancid, but it is the line that nearly every political commentator here has stuck to since it became apparent he wasn't going to be a breath of fresh air. -

If you haven't, I recommend reading the book by Niki Savva The Road to Ruin: how Tony Abbott and Peta Credlin destroyed their own government to understand why Abbott had to go.

What's worrying is how many people seem to want him back in charge. People like the goat fucker Cory Bernadi.

Although as bad as Abbott was, a mate of mine who is a Labor politician said that Rudd/ Gillard were the worst governments this country has ever had.
-

Yes, every political commentator who thought the sun shone out of Turnbull's arse and who are trying desperately to cover their own collective arses now that he's proven to be a complete dud. Turnbull is shit because he's shit Nick, not because of this "ghost of Tony" nonsense. Considering Turnbull white anted the shit out of Abbott while he was PM, he's lucky Abbott isn't nearly as vindictive as he was. -

I agree Abbott was a poor PM with a tin ear but a Sava book about Abbott will be about as fair as a Stephen Jones book about the Allblacks. -

I wouldn't give it any credence if it wasn't for her named sources. Politicians and staffers willing to be named and stand by their claims means a big deal.

It's not like Niki is a subscriber to the Green Left Socialist Weekly.
-
No, but she has always been extremely close to Turnbull. Didn't that book make the claim he was banging Credlin? -

She repeated that's what others thought.

-
That's pretty gutter journalism don't you think?
