You need to cover the bench.

Time to test out fullbacks Love Perofeta
Wings RI Jordan Clarke
Centre ProctorReiko would be a fantastic bench option covering wing and 13. He looked at his best on the wing on Saturday.
I would like to see Proctor given a run at 13 and Love getting game time.
the idea that some player might actually be ore valuable off the bench is completely foreign to AB coaches...specialists start and utilities players on the bench.....its not rocket surgery

The bench strategy is very sad because in the first(?) test of this year I actually thought it was timed and selected very well but it all just went downhill..

Is there an end date in sight for the Fozzie comparison comments?

You mean Fozzie Ryan Schmidt and co...

@KiwiMurph as soon as each and every Scott Robertson dickrider has come to terms with reality

@nostrildamus So when he loses it’s Ian Fosters team, when he wins it’s Schmidt Ryan Foster and when Razor losses it’s Foster.
It all makes sense now. Bit of twister to get there.

Fozzie (et al) lost twice to SA last year. By 28 points in their first game in 2023 (Twickenham). ABs won by a mere 3 points in their first test against Aus last year. They drew with England in 2022 (Razor et al has beaten England twice in a row)...
They lost by 16 points to SA in 2022 and by 7 points to Argentina in the same year and squeezed past Australia with 2 points clear and lost by 10 points and 11 points to Ireland.
Some wins in there (including smashing Argentina) but going back doesn't make it look like the golden years. Drew against Australia in 2020 (that is when he took over I think?) Admittedly we looked good in 2021, against Fiji and Tonga. But take them and Italy and mighty Namibia out of the review and we looked pretty middling over most of 2020-2023. -

So we can simplify it down the The Bear Apostles and The Surf Apostles.

So no.

We've almost certainly lost the RC for the first time in years, have a team which goes to pieces in the last 20 minutes, a forward pack which is the epitome of inconsistency and a stuttering backline with minimal penetration. Not forgetting we have yet another "must win" game - this time against the 8th placed team in the world.
But the big, big argument seems to be it's nothing to worry about and the real important issue, deemed worthy of detailed analysis, is whether the current bloke in charge is less shit than the previous bloke.

There's a button you can push... it would be better if people also stopped quoting cos button didn't stop that, sadly

@Victor-Meldrew I think the record number of Test losses in a year is 5 in 1998. We're on to equal or better that - in fairness off 14 games not 7, but hey.
I really hope we're on the upward curve, but I'm yet to be convinced

Speaking of upward curves and longterm issues
If I can suggest one glaring issue from a quick glance at match stats, our reserve bench almost never add points since the start of 2023 against major teams.
The few that have are fast players for their position, DMac, Ioane, Coles etc.
Newell is there but in general we don't seem to be tiring the opposition, at most we are lucky to surprise them. Going back to 2023 reduced RWC, Clarke scored 1 off the bench against Oz but overall our bench is not a weapon.I suggest the AB bench has been conservative and expecting to maintain a standard or push ahead due to supposed superior fitness - but if so, it isn't working.
Further, usually there are 3 or so tries by backs for every single try by forwards but there haven't been many tries overall apart from blowouts against minnows. Quite clearly one factor is the Bok's impressive defence:
I'm interested to see how the bench does in the Bledisloe.
