Springboks vs All Blacks 2
-
There isn’t much between the teams. Experience probably the telling factor.
Rassie has worked with this team and brought in fresh blood to a settled style for 7 years now. If Robertson is trying to embed his ethos, he is well behind Rassie and things take time.
Not sure if many remember what the ABs were like in 2004 when Henry, Hansen and Smith took over. They weren’t the great team they became. In fact, they were quite average.
-
@MiketheSnow let’s see. There is a lot of experience in the old dogs. That only comes with time.

Okay, but we're they tucking idiots?

Yeah they made some big calls on the end of year tour and went with youth (Carter, So'oialo, Collins etc)
Let's see if Razor does the same
I'm not holding my breath

@Victor-Meldrew no reliable kicker in international rugby, no winning.
ABs had the opportunity in 2nd half to go back in front and put pressure back on SA. They failed. That isn’t Robertson’s fault.
Who coaches the team on how and when to pressure the opposition?
Ardie failing to secure the ball at the back of the maul after winning the lineout. Is that the coach’s fault? And then the team compounded it with a penalty with a reckless clear out to gift SA an exit.
Who selects and coaches the team on how to do the basics and on the need for discipline when there's a need to put pressure on?
Great that injuries have allowed players like Sititi and Ratima to shine and Vaa'i has been a bit of a revelation but something clearly isn't working
-
Ratima Jordan Sititi should have stayed on.
Mentally weak leadership in second half.
Have to try Canes Tosi Numia Proctor Love
Slow wingers don't work out -
Sititi played out of position and arguably had more impact than Blackadder.
-
@Victor-Meldrew come on Vic, that was a coach killer. Savea is one of NZ’s best players, but he has not been 2023 Savea this year. Too many switch off moments from him.

Can't wait for Plummer to be dropped from the squad without playing a game
The best 10 in Super Rugby this year
Given he can play 2 positions, and kick goals, he may still be a chance.
-
@nostrildamus shades of Jerry today

@Tordah yep, that was a shocker by Reece. Let his team down today. Silly YC and bad switch off in second half to allow Boks to score. Add in the offside penalty he gave away and he was very costly.
and a sloppy miracle pass I think?
-
The next two matches are going to be very, very interesting
Razor obviously has a plan which for the most part is being let down by bad execution at critical times
Does he persevere with the personnel he has and hope they get it right?
Or does he bring in fresh faces to see if they can do any better?
-
Ratima DMac Ioane JB Proctor Clarke Jordan/Love
Time for the young guys -

Perofeta injury is the only reason Plummer has been called up

The coming apart all over the pitch in the last 20 minutes is too common to be anything but systemic.
-
@BerniesCorner weak leadership is very true.
Savea is a leader by action. He doesn’t strike me as a strategist. Scott and Jordie Barrett too. NZ need some thinkers in the team.
I think Proctor is a good shout. Feels like he is more in the mould of Conrad Smith than Tana Umaga.
NZ also need some smarts out wide, a la a Ben Smith.
