@Jet He called it a sledge so I presume the ref was struggling with TJ's accent and thought that he was calling one of the Springboks a twat.
Brace to TJ
‘I’m going to give you a clear message - insult me like that and you leave the field”
I don't think that's what he said. I listened a couple of times with headphones. I have
TJ: 'what's that'Ref (after the whistle)
I'm going to give you a very clear message. Shout at me again and you're going to leave the field.I thought it was 'insult' - if so, ref arguably justified. But really? Reverse possession with a penalty for shouting -- and very justified. Clear penalty to the Blackness for a player rolling over the ball on teh wrong side, and int eh modern game it's approaching yellow card given the field position.
Very poor refereeing.

@nzzp yeah that is absolutely appalling refereeing, he clearly isn't up to it if he can't control his emotions in that situation. That plus the knock on try should see him stood down for a period of time, that's just nowhere near good enough.

I yearn for the glass jugs at the Fitz, PN.

Two best teams in the world and they schedule that mong. The game deserved better

OK. Rewatched 60 to 75.
Blacks on top of Bomb Squad Boks from 60 - 63 when they get kickable penalty.
APPALLING OPTION. Take the kick. Over and game over. Miss and you get ball back.
Then we try Boks shift maul on them. WTF! We had edge in maul so KISS. A few phases and probably another pen or try.
They get lucky turnover and we try two Rieko specials, the second leading to another turnover.
WHY CHANGE A WINNING GAME?
That is where we took foot off throat.
That set move from the line-out was bizarre, I couldn't believe we tried it after the earlier success we had mauling from the top. I agree, that was the losing of the game, we should have buried them anyway never mind the Mbonabi try that shouldn't have stood.
We should blame ourselves for not finishing them off when we had the chance to against a decent, but overrated Boks outfit. Like, they're number 1, but no standout.
Yeah I agree with this completely, trying to get clever when we had the chance to bury the game was extremely poor decision making. We don't have the smarts that previous AB teams had under McCaw with the likes of Conrad Smith etc in the mix. The decision making in the final 15 minutes cost us a match we should never have lost, and this is becoming a theme this year; very poor decision making and execution at the business end of the match.
SA by contrast have the luxury of bringing on very experienced world class players that play a lot smarter.

That moronic move won us the 2011 RWC

For context, that's less than a single adult ticket to an NPC game.

An economy in the shitter isn't good for many things, but cheap booze at a rugby ground is one positive
Still not enough to make me want to move there.

Nothing will come of it. Wayne Barnes got a career after an appalling display of ineptitude. We were made to suffer as the pretence of "respecting the referee" kept getting thrown in our faces every time we were subjected to howlers. The only amateur hangover in a professional game.

Apparently Stephen Donald on SENZ is convinced to give a penalty like that so early means the ref was prepped to watch out for TJ shouting at him.
EIther his own prep, or Rassie got to him - but it kind of makes sense.Surely a calm and competent ref would caution him first.

He is abysmal. I was more angry about some of the ruck calls than the Mbonambi try.
Because for the ruck calls he was inventing stuff that didnt happen.
The Bongi try was an error of omission.
The ruck penalties were pure guesswork/dishonesty.
-
@Jet thing is, he is calling what he sees, or at least his interpretation of what he sees in terms of the laws.
So there are 2 parts to that issue, one, his referee coaching, reviews and feedback, but more importantly, that refs can see the same thing but call it differently, meaning the problem is more than just them.

The reason TJ asked was because the SA rolled over the ball on the wrong side of the ruck. Penalty all day, and just ignored ... it was wild

Its no good enough anymore.
They need to be held accountable.
They are seeing things that dont happen.
Like Barnes and Ardie in the RWC final "no release".
Cuts to big screen showing Ardie clearly releasing and Barnes hand waving it away with an excuse.
What should have been 3 points to us ends up being 3 points to them and we lost the RWC by 2 points.

Look at Brace in the last video there. Just disgusting dishonesty.
SA query that the Argentinians are offside from the quick tap. Brace says "they were back 10" confidently.
Not once did he look at the Pumas. And he told a blatant lie.

Has anyone considered the possiblity we not fit enough to play the style we attempting?
We keep getting run down at end of tests.Nope. Our bench is not good enough. And maybe they aren't good enough to carry through with our game plan. Or maybe our close out game plan is flawed. But not lack of fitness, more like lack of control

@Jet said in Springboks vs All Blacks I:
Ryan was asked if he was happy with the refs performance.
"It was a big test for Andrew Brace, Im sure he learned a few things, as did we".
Slightly less subtle than the usual euphemisms we get.
Whenever you see a coach (in this case Razor) say "discipline let us down", or mention "ref's interpretations", just read " that fluffybunny with the whistle didn't have a fucking clue".
Sadly they aren't allowed to say that, so I will.
