Have I mentioned I don't like this "can't play the halfback" rule?
So what is the actual rule? When can you touch the halfback?
Roigard is going to have a field day when he returns.

Impressed with Hurley to qrap up Ioane after initially getting beaten

My understanding is there's a cone of invincibility of a metre at each ruck for halfbacks where they can't be touched.
Fuck knows why.

Ffs just another pointless rule being introduced.

Such a terrible rule. Would love to know if these guys who decide to give these the go ahead has ever played the game. This is just being trialed at the moment right? It’s only going to increase the penalty rate and cause more confusion at ruck time than there already is.

Ma'u, Holland, Haig, TUJ and Whaanga been the best for Otago so far. Some nice play from Coltman and Hurley at times too.

I wish our bloody AB loosies ran that hard. Take note fellas, great try by Stodart.
-
Fantastic run from Stodart! Good rugged tough young bastard. I've got a same game multi with him Lam and Tele'a as try scorers. Come on the Auckland midfield!

I just wish they ran at shoulders instead of squaring up.

He's a quality young player. Heck of a big lad too. Him, Haig, de Groot, Withy, Vikena and Holland will be the core of the Landers pack going forward

What odds would you have got on Otago leading at half time?
None based on their performance against Southland.
But credit to them so far, their defence has been very good. Auckland guilty of impatience in this weather too.

So many aging journeymen in this Auckla d side. Surely there must be some better younger players coming through?
Vikena really hasn't kicked on as a player.
Will be interesting to see how he goes away from Auckland next year. Not great for Auckland when they let guys like Faletoi Peni go to Southland and pick up journeymen like Ah Wong

McGrath might be ok as an assistant coach but on the evidence of last year and this year so far he's a mud head coach.
Looks exactly the same as last year. Everything is hard work.
