As good as Stodart looked, he might want to consider a move to 7 if he wants to look at higher honours in the future.

Don't go down the Ioane/Sotutu path.

He's a bit big for a 7, at nearly 1.95 and nearly 120kg. I'm interested to see what Joseph does with him and Haig, as they both are similar players to him back in the day

Leali'ifano was loaned from Waikato. A Suburbs man now! 🙂

Those breakdowns became a mess. Some dumb passes from Hurley and Gilbert put Otago under pressure.

I thought a forward Holland, Haig, Stodart or Ma'u robbed of the three points.

Questions need to be asked how you can take a squad, that's just won SR under Cotter and turn them into that.

Great result and hopefully a good springboard for the season.

Complete different attitude to last week which was good to see. Gilbert was influential and had a good game, Hurley injecting himself and looked dangerous. Great having Umaga Jenson back, the backline just looks so much more balanced and organized with him in it so it’s not a shock that Gilbert also looked better having a guy like TUG outside him. Once again Millar was steady and his kicking off the tee was brilliant and proved to be very important.

In the forwards Coltman was brilliant, Holland his usual self and seeing Stodart step up was exciting to see, his try topped it off. All forwards had a good game to be fair. Subs also coming on and contributing positively is a bonus.

Another tough one at home next weekend against the Bay of Plenty. Bring it on.

I'm not too bothered about the loss to Southland. As I said a few weeks ago, this is the best Southland team we have seen in more than a decade. The Ta$man team rhat bet them is the best aide it'll roll out all year. We will get a good measure of Sputhland tomorrow.i see us beating BoP next week

Geez I loved that game. I know there were plenty of mistakes/dropped ball etc. But I love a game when a team just cause chaos at breakdown as Otago did and come away with a win! I would also suggest that Jamie Joseph in stands would of been happy, there a few likely looking boys in Otago team, and with Clan going on going local where possible things are looing up a little down that way?
Good reminder that attitude goes along way in our game!
