Fiji looked the strongest team on day one, then not much between NZ, Aussie, Ireland or Argentina.

Just on this I think the set up looks by far and away better than Sevens at the previous two Games.

The field looks in incredible condition and a huge crowd in looks great on TV. Having it at the main stadium that will host the athletics gives it more of a main event feel.

I only saw the SA game but NZ still has a problem with a lack of speed out wide as only a few players like Leo look to be able to beat an opponent for pace. Hopefully we see Carter more involved.

They were fucking loud during the games I watched. Yes they're a ways back, but vocal.

Not going to get as many of the dressups and themes I guess...

Only the Men's. The Women's competition starts on Monday NZT.

The organisers have said that they have placed the 7s this early so they can utilise the main stadium and for 'environmental reasons'
