QF - Brumbies v Highlanders

The more I think about it, the more I hope Millar and Tale’a are fit for this game.(not exactly a hot take, but it’s very important).
Tele’as ball carrying and and midfield crashes have been missed, there isn’t exactly another midfielder in the highlanders that can fill that role of all making the gain line and being able to provide quick ball, especially first or second phase off set play.
Millars tactical awareness seems ahead of Faleafaga at this stage so that will be huge, along with his general kicking and goal kicking. If we play to our best ability, goal kicking could be the difference.
A cold night in Canberra, those 2 players and what they provide will be hugely important if we want to be in this game.

I'd be tempted to run Finn Hurley on the bench and let him loose with 20 to go.

Ajay and Finn could provide X factor late in the game. Or have Gilbert as your 10 cover and have Te Hiwi/Whaanga and Hurley on the bench.
I’d almost put Matt Whaanga ahead of Te Hiwi right now, based on his output from minutes played he has had more of an impact on games than Te Hiwi has. -

We need to pull a few surprises and Hurley and or Faleafaga off the bench could be the players to do it. I'd rather we give this a good old fashioned try and lose by 20, than fart our way to a 10 point loss.

@SouthernMann see, i think somewhere inbetweem, good sensable rugby for the first have, make our tackles...and then roll the dice in the second
-
we're going all out, no regrets
-
Happy with my Hurley hunch.

We have a punchers chance. Brumbies in Canberra are a good side. We do have a reasonable record there though.
-
Come on the Landers, really hope you guys can do what we haven't been able to over the last couple of seasons and put those pricks to bed.

Tele'a is a game-changing inclusion... that bench scares me though. I would have had Faleafaga there as specialist cover. Hurley won't see the field unless we are getting smoked or there is an injury.
yeah, i feel ajay would provide an option to change things up in the second half, one specialist 10 kind of dictates how we're going to play
-
I refkon Hurley will get 20 - 30 minutes. Why pick him if you don't plan on playing him. Especially if there are a couple of other options.
-
@SouthernMann i kind of think no rules in playoffs, regular season, even if someone is playing well they get pulled looking at the rest of the season, experience for the bench and rest for the starter.....neither of which id be worried about in playoffs

Yeah I’d have preferred the same. Faleafaga over Te Hiwi for me but the logical reasoning is having midfield cover for Telea’s bad injury run of late which makes sense. They must feel comfortable enough in Gilbert to step in at 10 if something were to happen to Cam, if not we’d probably have seen Ajay and Te Hiwi on the bench.
