We're a chance - I guess that is all I could have asked for at the start of the season. Team I'd go with:

    1. de Groot
    2. Bell
    3. Ainsley
    4. Dunshea
    5. Holland
    6. Haig
    7. Withy
    8. Harmon
    9. Fakatava
    10. Millar
    11. Nareki
    12. Gilbert
    13. Te Hiwi
    14. Tavatavanawai
    15. Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens
    16. Taylor
    17. Johnstone
    18. Ma'u
    19. Hicks
    20. Broughton
    21. Arscott
    22. Faleafaga
    23. Garden-Bachop

I think it is nice in many ways that team selection is so clear-cut, and we have our best (available) team sorted.

Agree on pretty much all of that. If Tele’a is healthy it’s a no brainer he comes back into 13. If that happens then whether there’s a spot for Te Hiwi on the bench or not I’m not sure but I think the sensible option would be CGB dropping out and Te Hiwi there so we have midfield cover. It could even be Te Hiwi at 12 and Gilbert on the bench as midfield cover.

    We need Tele’a, badly.

someone order some extra strapping tape and pain killers, best 15 possible out there at all times from now on, thats what we did in 2015, no subs unless we're up by +20, there is less than a couple of minutes...and i can see blood or bone

Weather looks good in Canberra for the weekend. Not sure if there are any conditions that'll assist. Just have to hope that we play well and that they don't.

Hope you guys can do it. Canberra has been an absolute graveyard for the Canes for years now.

@foobaNZ mind you last year's result was a sham. Ardie got that ball down. 😃

I definitely hope the Highlanders can upset the Brums.

its not a hard no.....would be good if i could find someone to share the drive, my brother and i did the drive from chch to dunedin (much shorter i know) for the QF in 2015 as last minute decision...and that was an awesome game

Paywalled ODT article gave a quick injury update:

The Highlanders should effectively have everyone on deck this week, though midfield back Tanielu Tele’a is an uncertain starter with his knee problem.

Lock Will Tucker cleared the next stage of HIA protocols, and rising first five Cameron Millar is available.

Millar, halfback Folau Fakatava, lock Mitch Dunshea, loose forwards Oliver Haig and Sean Withy, and outside backs Timoci Tavatavanawai and Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens will probably return to the starting XV.

Fullback selection could be up for debate, though, after youngster Finn Hurley shone in his first start in the 41-14 loss to the Hurricanes in Wellington

Hurley was a thorn in the Hurricanes side on Saturday, he did a lot of clean up work at the back and played very well in those tough conditions. Going into the game I thought he may have been an area of weakness the Canes could exploit but he was really good. You'd expect JRK to start though.

@Canes4life yea given the conditions at the ground Hurley was very impressive. Was almost always in a good position to take any kicks we put there way despite it blowing an absolute gale.
