There were plenty of times where England had Aus well covered and he should have called the penalty.<br><br>
So basically, yes a penalty on your own line should only ever end in the penalty being given or a try being scored.<br><br>
And as Siam points out England were on a team warning so would have had a player binned as well.<br><br>

From what I recall the advantage was called over when OZ were only 2m out from the line. It was on the opposite side of the park to where the penalty was awarded. -
