Chiefs v Highlanders

Landers look good when they decide to go direct.
The shuffling of the ball from side to side with zero imagination is soul destroying.
-
Haha surely not ....
-
Man the Chiefs have been awful for much of this game. No direction.
-
@Bones I literally turned it on when it was all Highlanders. Should of watched from the start.
-
@Tim Yeah, not their best display, they always seem to lose direction once DMac goes off too.
-
Chiefs need a better backup 10 ioane is rubbish
-
@cliff That missed touch changed the momentum towards the end. I think they would have cruised home until he did that from that hard earned penalty from the forwards.
-
Yuk that was horrible. Has Dmac got a leg injury? His kicking was far less lengthy today. But things went downhill when he went off. 27% territory and 31 % possession has to be one of the lowest shares I have seen in Super rugby. They will need far more urgency v Crusaders.
Harmon, Gilbert and Tavatavanawai were a handful today. -
radio was saying there was a lot of wind? chiefs had it in first half
-
-
Oh and thoughts on Gilbert were he certainly runs hard but doesn't seem hard to stop.
-
Hopefully Patchell won't be that bad again. Somebody really needs to put a rocket up Fakatava and give him some direction. All the skills and physical ability, just lacks focus.

@Bones Yep I wondering if Fakatava is going to really come on, he just seems to lack the ability to really read game etc at moment.
The case of Folau Fakatava to me is really just a sad one of a guy whose career has been more or less destroyed by a serious knee injury.
Watch him pre-injury compared to now, he was so much quicker then - not to say he is slow now of course. As a result, when he dallys, it looks 10x as bad. I maintain he is guilty of trying too hard, because he definitely has a crisp pass and an elite running game... his kicking game has always been a bit of a weakness admittedly, but is that necessarily that bad a thing?

How annoying is the music.
Even worse for those of us there. Very annoying.

@Tim said in Chiefs v Highlanders:
McKenzie's exits have been pretty average today.
I don't think he is 100% fit. You see him grimacing after every punt. And the tape around both quads.
I was saying at the game that either Stevenson or ENS should have been used for exit kicks.

Ioane is certainly rocks and diamonds. He was great off the bench against the Brumbies but has been average otherwise. DMac will need his AB rest soon.
-
@Bovidae There will be some easy games for him to do that in.
-
right, i only managed to watch the 25 min highlights on stan so it might be the editing. But in the highlights Tavatavanawai gets his card with no warnings which to my bia eye was a little harsh...and they showed the chiefs getting three separate "warnings" for multiple inside their 5m with no card
was there a warning before our yellow they didnt show? was it multiple penalties in the lead up too it?
will try and watch the whole reply if i can

No warnings. It was an interesting one, referee deemed it a professional foul, which if you deem he came in from the side (probably came in on the 45 so fair cop) then by the letter of the law a yellow was probably fair.
-
@frugby i saw it as he arrived at the same time as someone else who just happened to be further back so he was put offside by his own player, i think if he was the only one there it would have been fine, so yellow if we'd had penalties/warning in the lead up but if neither a penalty and a warning maybe

I think though, the referee is saying that he has illegally slowed the ball down after a line break. Considering location on the field, by rule that is a fair yellow card.
The better question, as you say is whether he actually came in from the side. As I say, probably just. Sort of came in on the 45 and crept around, which sometimes you'll get away with, but generally not after a fast break, as the referee's always seem to decide that you were never onside, even if the ruck moves after you are already on the ball.
