Cheers for the updates @Stargazer - I too am wondering about why it's so close.
-
@Nepia I think the wet conditions played it's part - they certainly caused some of the handling errors - but that works both ways. So that doesn't explain everything. Obviously, Lindisfarne must have been very motivated. A local derby at home, cheered on by about all other students (it was quite noisy). That must have lifted their game.
Not having team line-ups from Hastings also makes it impossible to see whether it was a full-strength squad playing today, or that they were again missing players.
Super 8 will tell us more.
I'm really keen to find out who some of the players are.

Very dumb play from the Napier left winger, who in attempt to keep the ball in play, slaps it back for one of the Palmy players to pick it up. Almost try, but held-up.
From the following penalty, then line-out, Palmy's hooker dives over though.
Palmy's fullback converts the try.
7 - 10 Palmy

Napier line-out on their own 22.
Big, high kick from Napier's 10 and caught well by their right winger, who kicks the ball and it finally goes out.
Palmy line-out, it looked like a good attack, but a forward pass.
Now a line-out well into Palmy's half. Driving maul Napier.
Chip kick by one of the Napier backs, who is clearly obstructed in his chase by a Palmy player, but the ref does nothing.
Palmy kick the ball out.
Half time: Napier Boys 12 - 10 Palmy Boys
