Good to see Daryl Mitchell's comments rightly get taken apart:

Dazza may discover that the Chennai Super Kings haven't paid $2.7 million for him to not be defined by team results.
Moose might be in for a rude awakening, a great bloke is Moose but a bit of a naive statement by him.

The reaction to Mitchell's comment is exactly why we mostly get generic comments to the media. Anything else is not worth the risk.

Arguably, I thought it was a very generic comment on his part trying not to get too deeply into discussing a loss. Listening to all of them this series with end of the day comments, they seem to have had media coaching on positivity (to a fault...)

It's gotten to the point where I don't bother with any post match/pre match interviews with coaches and players. It's mostly like you say, 'coached', and I don't blame them for it. It's a shame.
-
One remarkable tactic might be to actually tell the truth in interviews - like "we were really dissapointed we didn't win there" and "yes I think we let them off the hook" and "I think I really underperformed this series, but I'll try real hard to correct that in the next one".
But yes, interviews with the coach's and players are more often than not dire, often the players don't even answer the (very simple) questions posed to them and just say "yes I'm very proud of the boys and their performance" or some varient of that there-of.

@Donsteppa He's on a journey - just like his Dad
Like his Dad, maybe he is planning to get a job in the England setup in the future - he is echoing what they say after they lose.

He seems like a super competitive guy, so the comments were out of character
-
in the current side, coming out and saying "tim southee was a bit shit, and so was that other bloke that shouldn't have been there" is probably a really good way to get cut from the side. Especially when you didn't score that many

I don't see a change of test captain while Stead is still the coach. We'll be needing a Hesson moment for that to happen.
Forget about Darryl’s comments, when is someone (Weenink or DPL) going to comment that Stead and Southee have the full support of the Board…
