@Duluth Another really insightful graph.
Highlanders: They have really accurate kickers in their team, but I also get the feeling that they have really good decision rules re when to go for goal and who takes the shot from where (i.e. side, angle, distance). Impressive.
Does kicking indoors also help?

To an extent, the lack of wind/rain obviously helps, but we also play over half our games away from home, and obviously other games are played in the basking sun.

and famously all those kickers in the 2011 RWC were claiming they found it weirdly harder

@frugby That's a good point.
In a similar but almost opposite vein, when a team like the Blues get a wide penalty in or just outside the 22, the temptation to rather kick for touch must be strong bc they have Rieko, Telea, and Clarke as weapons. As a result, they might be rejecting very kickable penalties.

Btw, any of the Aussies beating Gilbert's overall %?
Nope
Hodge was 3rd in the number of kicks landed and had a %age of 81.7
Lolesio was 7th on total kicks landed at a %age of 81.8
Donaldson 8th @ 69.4

@Duluth Seeing Hodge and Lolesio on that list just reminds me of badly Eddie Jones messed up the Wallabies RWC campaign. I get wanting to blood new players and not wanting too many ULTRA-experienced oldish players, but if he had mixed Ultra-experienced players with Rennie Wallabies and his EJ youngsters they could've strolled their way to a RWC SF. Not too mention the handful of Aussie tight forwards playing in the French Top14.
