@mariner4life The traditional NZ green tops encouraged generation after generation of NZ medium fast do a little but not much bowlers and batsmen who learned to flash at stuff because long term survival was not an option.
Improving the wickets was the best thing NZ Cricket did. Bowlers and batsmen had to learn to be patient, think and hone their techniques.
We could always roll out the green tops when the tourists arrive though... 😁
Basin doesn't do it for ya? From Aus 2016
Pretend green.

you know what really grinds my gears?
The South Continent nations have genuine home pitch advantages. Absolute burners that take experience to play on
What do we serve up in response? Benign flat batting decks. The only reason for our success was we had a metronome South African willing to bowl bouncers over after over after over until the batsman got bored and fucked up.
Bring back the fucking green.

Ajax Patel is like the reverse Henry Nicholls. Awesome record overseas but terrible record at home (to be fair he has only played three games in NZ).
If he could bat well enough to bat at seven, he probably would have played a bucketload of games.
This. We don't know how effective he could be because he barely gets a chance at home

60 test wickets at 30 is fucken incredible for a NZ spinner.

Well. There is this thing called Plunket Shield.
I'll confidently state he'd have done less well than the 4 seamers who played ahead of him, on some spinners graveyard pitches. But better (with the ball) than the spin bowling all-rounders who rounded out those attacks.
