All Blacks 2024

Rugby Australia is considering scheduling an afternoon Bledisloe Cup clash in Sydney for the first time in almost three decades in an effort to attract families and avoid a clash with the NRL finals. RA boss Phil Waugh confirmed the governing body is in talks with broadcast partners the Nine Network and Stan Sport as well as other stakeholders about a daytime kickoff for the September 21 clash against the All Blacks at Accor Stadium.

Awesome - I'll be taking a kid or 3 to this game, putting it in the avo would be nice for beers and food afterwards, not to mention getting home before midnight
-
awesome news although i do wish these decisions were made earlier so club comps could be adjusted to allow people to go
@NTA anything come across your radar?

god fucking damn it doesn't matter what positive moves are made, someone always has to have a whinge

god fucking damn it doesn't matter polite and measured you are with a critique someone will always have a whinge about people having a whinge
-
@Kiwiwomble Bledisloe in Sydney will be September 21st, so well after our season finishes.
-
@NTA all good then! later that i thought they were

don't make me crank up my whinge to 11
but seriously, this is an awesome idea. And if your comp (in another city) can't reorganise one weekend of amateur rugby late in the year, when your comp hasn't even kicked off, then you have bigger issues.
-
@mariner4life agreed! but late in the season (if not after the season as @NTA has said) will be finals...so not something you want players or spectators skipping out on
you sound like your whinge is already well past 11...was a very small point about maybe deciding these things before the draws are made so things dont have to be rearranged....but sounds like its not an issues so all moot
-
play friday night
-
@mariner4life
you think we have lights you could actually play under?!
you seem to think im suggesting things cant be rearranged, of course they can...the point was do it right once consulting everyone involved, which maybe they have seeing as its after the season ends
-
lol fuck this country is enormous. You are in a different city. You can't honestly expect the ARU to go to each amateur union in cities/states not even hosting the game and make sure they are on board?
Better make sure they get on the horn to FNQ Rugby as well. Oh wait nah they'll be finished too.
(also, if you've seen some of the lights we play under up here to avoid heat...)
-
@mariner4life ....i mean...make the decision earlier and then allow local unions to make their draw in accordance.....dont think its that complicated or hard to understand....but also a not issue in the case as has been said....so not sure why youre so worked up
and i wasn't talking about Vic Rugby....i specifically mention @NTA for the NSW angle
-
I'm not worked up
TO me this is a continuation of a theme. We have a whole "current state of rugby" and NZRU review thread. People constantly go on about the need for change.
But, every time a governing body tries to make change, someone will instantly come up with a "but that changes something for me, and i don't like it"
Being a sports administrator is a shit gig.
-
....but i do like it...very much, my first words were "Awesome news"
the original comment was just it seemed like an easy win....but has already been said...non issue, and they may have actually considered it

With my bias eye patch on I think Fabian Holland should be a big shout. He will be eligible in 2025. By that time he will have played 30 - 40 Super Rugby games. Will only be 22 turning 23. He is 2.04 m and is listed at 124 kg. Think he is your most like for like replacement
-
@SouthernMann I agree. Holland has the size but is also very mobile, and a ball-carrier.
