"Ethan Blackadder and wing Caleb Clarke are carrying niggly injuries."

Maverick?

Oh leave poor Glassadder alone!

Voerman presuming Barrett or Perofeta will start the Fiji match.
Would there really be any reason to rest Mckenzie? There's a three week break till the next test after Fiji, and the longest run of consecutive tests is five, to finish the year.
I can see the point of bringing another player in at 10 vs Fiji to ensure they're up to running the cutter in Robertson's scheme, but Barrett shouldn't need to have a sample game after 124 caps. If Perofeta is a fullback and to be replaced by Jordan when he comes available, neither should he.
I see more value in continuity learning the new system, especially in a lower pressure game where more risks can be taken.
We've still got Australia and Japan to come if we need to introduce another 10 to the game plan later.

@Kiwiwomble there were photos of Blackadder training in full contact, don't no about the niggles, can't be much in it.

The English left him battered-I'd be surprised they won't try it again.

@nostrildamus such is life in the All Blacks 10 jersey. If Dmac plays well again tomorrow night he should for sure be rewarded with a start again against Fiji. Continuity.
If anything, rest Jordie and Reiko and run ALB and Proctor against Fiji. That way Dmac is building chemistry with others outside him, keep in mind him and ALB most likely know each others game inside out as well.

Some low impact match fitness work for Blackadder...
Seriously though, it would be good if he had an extended period of fitness to have a chance to show if he is upto test footy or not.

I hope he’s careful, he might get a nasty steam burn and be out for the rest of the year
-
@taniwharugby Look, it would, but it ain't happening. His body isn't made to last. He's played what, just over 40 games for the Crusaders in 8 seasons? And 10 tests? 9 of which were in 2021?
His injuries are at a point where we can't really consider him as anything more than a squad member, and I'm not even trying to sound harsh.

Interesting that Roigard is around the squad. I wonder if he is ahead of schedule

I understand he's ahead of schedule massively (thanks to NZCIS facilities) but likely we won't see him until the EOYT.

No rush, he's too valuable in the long term
