No, he just wasn't selected. Didn't want to talk to the coaches that thought 12 loose forwards were better than him, including some VERY ordinary players.

@Frank Wasn't Hoskins selected for the AB XV last year but turned it down?
No mention of Sotutu turning anything down
The quoting function makes it appear like I said it when it was sparky
Nothing worse than an apparent misattribution on a Tuesday afternoon surrounded by screaming kids.

What the hell went wrong that year?
Seriously................something must have happened or been amiss.
Duluth said there was an apparent personality clash but it was indicated that that was ironed out pretty early on.
There must be a part of his game they didn't like.

A little bit of shit stirring from a paywalled Rattue article. So given the source I'd take it with a grain salt..
Savea is popular with the players but Robertson and him were not on the same page. Scott Barrett was genuinely unsure if he'd take the job (presumably because Ardie is popular?) That's why Whitelock was floated as returning and he would've been captain
you have to wonder in what way were they not on the same page
Razor wanted his loose forwards to hit rucks.

Yeah, he's a bloody good selector of loose forwards is Razor.
-
You mean about this ‘not returning a phone call’?
I think that is ridiculous it was even made public.
A 24 yr old young man, had his career aspirations crushed by a punitive decision to not even include him in a AB squad, meaning he won’t make the RWC squad and not even get in the 2nd team.
It was also a decision that had a major financial impact on him.
It would have him thinking if he had a future in NZ or if he needed to look overseas.
But somehow, it’s all his fault because He didn’t return a phone call within 48 hours of having his world completely thrown into turmoil.
It’s complete bullshit

At Super level. Hopefully it translates to tests and we will be in business.

Not only selector, he needs to coach his group up and make them better as a team and as individuals
-
Yeah looks, I could understand these project/injury selections if it was in the wider squad for the RC/EOYT....but it's for a two test series against a RWC semi finalist with two weeks build up.
I was hoping the era of mealy mouthed bullshit excuses had come to an end, it's disappointing and frustrating to feel that same old same old.

Did Savea actually want the job. Maybe he told Razor he didn’t want the pressure and so he went with Scooter.
Sotutu showing his true colours with his instagram post. Suck up your non selection and be better. You obviously didn’t listen to the work ons Razor gave you. He challenged you and now you’ve cried over your non selection. You’ve shown him he was right for not selecting you. Mentally weak -
Yeah I know in my job I'd have been let off the hook if I didn't get the promotion I wanted and ignored the boss for days. I mean at 24 you can't expect to be an adult! 🙄

@Kiwiwomble I thought "Most hated" was a reference to people who don't like the Blues, not the ABs selectors.
-
It’s not like he was his boss was it? He doesn’t work in the same office as him. Doesn’t see him at the blues on a daily basis or have contact with him on a daily basis. He is in charge of a team that you aren’t selected for, essentially saying. We don’t want you in this team.
It’s pretty narcissistic of Ryan to kill someone’s career and then make it all about him because he didn’t get a call back from the person he just killed, and make it public news.
Where’s the compassion for someone and realise that people are different and that he just may need some space before speaking with the person.

is that what people are butt hurt about? thats what i thought it was about, the old "i support two teams, insert your team and anyone playing Auckland"

Crafty Comb just wanted to select his Crusaders mate, nothing Sotutu can do about it - certainly can't do any more on the field. That post was restrained compared to what I would posted to the fat fuck and combover muppets.

Yes. He's spoken before of the deep honour of captaining the national side. Given Scott Barrett's history with injuries, I's be amazed if we don't see Ardie Savea captaining the ABs in a test at some point this year.

@sparky He’s not going to say publicly he doesn’t want the job. I agree he will captain the team at some stage this year.
-
@Kirwan you do realise he selected Sititi over Sotutu. So nothing to do with Crusaders bias.
That doesn’t suit your narrative though does it. -

I can't imagine calling a loose forward with his stats at SR level mentally weak. But we're probably not the legend you are.

Ok, cheers. From your post it seemed that you knew there were work-ons and that you knew he didn’t attend to them.
It’s probably just because you often have the good oil I read more into it than I guess you meant.

Edit: ah you answered. So you don't know.

@gt12 no I just heard on radio today that they’d had a meeting and Razor gave him work ons. Then all he said was we went with someone else. I took that as he hadn’t achieved the work ons.
I know a massive thing they talk about with loosies, is not being a Log. I’ll leave all you blues supporters to work out what that is. -
Darry left the Crusaders longterm plans-so he's out. Akira and possibly Hoskins won't be at the Blues next year, two of their best ... hard not to see a long term tinfoil hat plan here. I don't know what the conspiracy theory is regards A J Lam and Plummer mind..

Ahh so your take and not actually from the team? He probably achieved them then...he definitely doesn't log.
-
@nostrildamus nah just what I heard on radio this morning.
I love Blackadder as a player. Not because he’s a crusader. Because he’s a bloody good player. But I also agree that he’s always injured. He won’t see out the whole test season. He’s that annoying unco guy at training that always hurts his teammates too. -
@antipodean can the penalty stats be broken down to what they were for?

It's just hard on those loosies that play all season with enthusiasm (cos I also like Harmon).
-
@nostrildamus I think Razor would probably agree that he got that one wrong. They chose to take Zach Gallagher and knew they had Jamie Hannah amd Taylor Cahill coming thru.
So far Darry is the best out of them all. -

Really good interview with Scott Hansen on Aotearoa rugby pod. Talks a lot about Hoskins in it
-
@Bones I think you should watch him more closely. Watch how much time he spends on the ground.
-
@Canes4life I didn’t know that. He’s an amazing athlete but just can’t stay on the field. Bloody good kid. He'll be an asset if he can get his body right.
-
Need a translation of log here - he spends too much time on the ground, ergo, lazy? No repeated efforts?
