@Joans-Town-Jones what about if the Boks drop the ball on purpose to force the ABs to scrum 😉
As I said, on our ball we're fine.

Fuck we're talking refs
But Barnes loves a free for all at the breakdown and so do the boks

I'm interested in the defensive pattern this week. The soak defence works so well on that northern style attack.
But I'm not sure I am happy sitting back and letting big suffer forwards roll.
I'm strangely confident the coaches have a plan though. -
Would really like to Fozzie via his press conference opportunities make a real statement in and around time wasting ,injuries , water breaks or slow set piece set up.
Really put it out there as a blight on the game there before the Final -
@KiwiMurph and only met once before in a final...we are 0/1

Really put it out there as a blight on the game there before the FinalANd every kiwi pundit needs to keep it in the news, whinge horrendously enough that SA pundits react, and the NH pundits whinge about our whinges, keeping it in everyone's mind. C'mon lets out Rassie, rassie. Legally!

Pros and cons for all the candidates. We just have to do what we've been doing and up our kick game

SA should be massive favourites.
RWC finals are always tight nervy affairs. SA has given 2 masterclasses in a row on how to win such games. NZ has just given masterclasses on how to give away yellow cards in such situations.
NZ even in its knockout wins have struggled to exit their own 22. The clearing kickers are all only capable of kicking short distances and are more prone to skewing it off the side of the boot. More often NZ win the lineout on their own 22 then kick it out 2 metres further down field from where they won it. SA has consistently cleared it up to the halfway line
Last game we struggled to repel the Boks mauls and scrum. We are likely to pick a very inexperienced reserve front row again.
Mark Telea was exposed against the Argentines as being average under the high ball. No way Rassie Erasmus has not noted this.
SA have more veterans likely to be in their last RWC and probably likely to retire straight after. They will be more incentivized to send these players out as winners.
SA players have more experience playing under NH refs with their players exposed to them in the URC. NZ is more likely to run foul of their interpretations.
The neutrals despite what they will claim will want SA to win. The Irish will be obsessed with seeing NZ punished for beating them, the English will want the Saffers to win so they can believe they were a whisker from winning the whole thing and the Welsh and Scottish will see more sport in winding up NZ fans after a loss. French, Argentinian and Italian fans will probably support NZ but it will be lost in translation.
Finally Rassie Erasmus is a proven RWC winning coach. Ian Foster couldn't even win a Super rugby title, Joe Schmidt couldn't get the Irish past the quarterfinals and Jason Ryan is still finding his feet at International level.

I'm picking the ABs and ASav to play the house down, with him winning World player of the year in the process.
You might be right about the second part of that if you're right about the first part.
Richie not passing to Will didn't help either of my boys - and that greedy little Jordie nicking another one of Will's five tries didn't help either.
-
I think we have met in RWC's;
1995 - SA win
1999 - 3rd/4th play off, SA win
2003 - 1/4 NZ win
2015 - semi NZ win2 each, but SA won the big game and aside from the 2003 match, the rest have been a few points in it.
So the pattern emerging, they won the final, then won the 3rd spot, then lose a 1/4, lose a semi, means a final is to be lost next...

Mathieu Raynal i
Would probably suit the Boks and is inclined to do something radical which is a worry.
I would prefer Barnes he lets the game flow more.
Props are a question Nepo can be a penalty magnet and is not the best defender.
50/50 call for the reserves props I think.
Williams might be handy with some go forward in the last 20 minutes.Stick with the young boys. They haven't let us down, and have actually been very good. They also offer something around the field, which Nepo in particular does not.

I agree, Barnes won't stand for delaying tactics as much as Raynal. But I fear the hosts will want a French ref
I'm picking Barnes for the final and Raynal for that other game.
Barnes is nailed on for the final. As O'Keeffe has done two knockout games he is unlikely for 3v4, and it could be any of them.
I'd actually like to see them dip outside of what they have already used with the Georgian boy, but we will see. Is he even still there?
