And speaking of tackles, de Groot gets a forearm to the nose and it's just "a glancing blow". Play on.
And despite it all, we still could have won if we'd kicked our kicks or set up a DG on one of two occasions.
we just couldn't get into position for a DG though could we - they defended well in that final stretch and we were rooted

Back on lineouts, why did we insist on throwing to the back all the time? That, the tricky moves, and not competing on theirs in the 2nd half, all killed me
The more I think about this game the angrier I get. We beat ourselves more than SA beat us. So frustrating.

I recall two occasions we were near the 22, dead in front

Just seemed to be too cute. Were we worried we couldn't secure our ball? Because those trick moves only served to lose us the ball anyway

@PN so genuine question - what's the mitigation you see?
A bunch of people argued Kolisi was YC only, and plenty of mitigation. When I pulled that and saw it again, I really struggled to reach that conclusion. Looked red as shit to me, with no real mitigation
As above.
so, the mitigation is your personal preference to be on the end of one over the other...? That's pretty comical pal.
They're both clear reds under the current laws. Kolisi comes flying into the line and recklessly makes significant head-on-head contact.
It's just a red mate, give it up.
Yep, and your deranged view from your armchair is more accurate than a panel of referees - got it.
I Cannot have a rational conversation with someone who is clearly still in the first stage of grief. I give you some time - 4 years.
/grabs coat
I made a pretty rational assessment of the incident - rushed in, recklessly made contact with his head. Your assessment was "one might hurt more".
Poor effort mate.
Any jeez, if you really believe that we shouldn't question the ability and consistency of the blokes in the TMO seats, then you're watching a different game to the rest of us
Save your strength. The troll is gone. Funny because as much as most on here are upset with the ref/TMO, we are generally just as frustrated by our own team. I don't recall one poster saying anything along the lines of "we was robbed"

It's been a grand 2024 international season, ABs exceeded my expectations in the end. Congratulations and thanks to those who have played their last game in black.
Cheers for the update Marty McFly. Looks like I can cancel my sky subscription next year !

Does someone have stats? I read a report Shannon made 1 tackle in 55 minutes, surely that is in error. If Akira played like that this Forum would have imploded. And I say this as someone who thought SF played himself back into the team this year.
I thought SF would have come back fizzing and ripped in. I barely noticed him. Disappointing from a guy we all identified as key to our chances. Too gunshy on a yellow?
Nope, overhyped player who returned to his usual standard. Plus he wouldn’t be gunshy on a yellow - history shows he doesn’t face consequences for being a fuckwit

While I question the accuracy of tackles/missed tackles, the use a consistent method: https://www.espn.co.uk/rugby/playerstats?gameId=596201&league=164205
Frizell had 1 tackle and 1 missed tackle.
Taylor/Scottie/Ardie were the only players in double figures and Jordan/Cane made 8 each. The team made 93 out of 106 tackles of which 47 (50% of successful tackles) were made by the 5 players just mentioned.

Boks showed multiple times drop goal attempts in that game in those field conditions were very difficult

That isn't good enough for a 6 in my books but hey it's a big empty slate for Razor next year anyway. We'll have good props, a great lock, competition at 6, Harmon at 7 (mostly joking) a quality 9 and 10, great wings and solid midfield, and a surprise package maybe at 15.

Ardie once again leading stats defensively and offensively. Fkn machine

What could we have done differently.
I think Roigard on the bench could have given us what we needed at the death. I think we missed a few touches we would have liked to have again and I think we went for the corner too early when there were points on offer. Should Cane have made more of the forearm to the face. Probably squeaky wheel and all that. Finally I think dmac needed more time to work some magic for us. He looked dangerous with every touch.
Foster is always conservative esp with the bench. This kind of plays into SA's fave ploy, grind you down and squeeze you out, 1 point win is a 1 point win.
