SF - Wellington vs Shield Snorters
-
A player that won't be in the Wellington side on Saturday is Peter Lakai. Going from Instagram it looks like he broke his arm and is now on the mend.
Will be interesting to see what side Wellington puts out after a pretty brutal QF against the Mooloos.
Nevertheless I hope we get some revenge against these hooligans after they trashed the Shield.
-
I'm looking forward to this game, it should be a fair bit of feeling. Shame about Lakai, as he's been good from what I have seen.
-
@Canes4life 😆 🤣 😂
-
It's same team from last week with a new replacement tight head from southland..old school fellah someone Morgan ? Or similar.. apparently good in the scrum we shall see

@BerhamporeNinja interesting, Aumua looked like he was training from the Insta photos today, any chance he'll be named on the bench?
Is the prop Morgan Mitchell?
-
@Canes4life asafos on the bench, yeah I think that's him !
-
I Believe they have 6 forwards and 2 utility backs with Dominic Ropeti added to the bench
-
Does anyone have any idea when our Horkes Bay team (using the phonetical spelling) will be named for the Saturday night game please?
EDIT: Goodness how does a question about my provinces team suddenly appear in a thread that does not have anything to do with a game concerning Wellington and a team that I have never heard of?
-
-
@stargazer What is you post doing in this thread that looks like it is about a game Wellington are playing against some sort of mythical outfit?
-
So has there been any repercussions for the frankly disgusting behaviour with the shield, or have they got off scot free?
-
@Kirwan I don't think a team has ever been punished for damaging the Shield, have they? I mean, the team that took a bath with it, resulting in the wood starting to rot and leading to the old Shield having to be replaced, didn't face any consequences either. And that's just one example.

The result of the enquiry announced next week, apparently.

Nobody has ever split it in half, snorted drugs off it and took pictures celebrating both acts and posted them publically. It's a new low.
-
@Kirwan There's no proof that they snorted drugs or that it was players snorting drugs and taking pictures. As has been reported, there were several non-players present, including the female who's holding the phone with the pictures. I've seen no pictures of anyone celebrating the Shield breaking.
-
@Kirwan I did not know the NZ Police had arrested and charged anyone with any offence. Please let the cat out of the bag and let the world know who alleged guilty parties were so that I can remove them from my Christmas Card list?
-
Wow. I do have to wonder how you'd handle Auckland acting that feral, amazed you both seem happy with this sort of behaviour.
-
Look up.
-
No I'm good.
Hopefully they don't return the Shield so it can be kept safe.
-
@kirwan Still waiting for an answer to my perfectly legitimate question, one for which you must have the answer for given you are so confident you know the intimate details of what happened and those that must have been involved.
-
I would hope that the police would investigate, especially when it's so painfully, stupidly made public, but in the current climate I doubt it.

That comment indicates you have already convicted someone for something that might or might not have happened. I was unaware that you were a court judge in the NZ court system with the powers to convict someone that has not yet been arrested and without any actual evidence other that a photo that could have been doctored. Congratulations on your astuteness and clearvoiantness, you have saved the courts a lot of time and money that would have been spent in actually prosecuting the case
-
That's a lot of words you are trying to put in my mouth to justify the bogan celebrations that broke one of the most treasured trophies in NZ (Well, treasured by the rest of NZ anyway).

Still a weakness at 9 and 10. Morgan puts me off watching Wellington. Whereas Clarke, while certainly not perfect, was the opposite. As was Preston.

@Winger add in Julian Savea as a weakness, he was horrible last week. Dropped the ball about 4 times and looked sluggish.
Nice to see Asafo Aumua back in the side.
After last week's physical onslaught, I can see why we've gone with an extra forward on the bench.
-
James O'reilly will be out to smash fluffybunnies (that didn't invite him to the snorting)
-
@Machpants now don’t be surprised if he signs for them next year. 😂
-
HB showing good D here on the Fern 👌🏽

Sorry to anyone going to game from Wellington, but GO The Bay!!!!! (I want a final up here in the Naki!)
And if you not going well you don't care enough (or live elsewhere). -
It’s a storm here in Wellington atm. Hopefully it clears a bit before tonight.

@Magpie_in_aus I’ve been going to sporting events in Wellington all my life. Not sure what you’re even talking about. Some of the best sporting crowds I’ve been apart of have been in Welly.
All Blacks vs Lions and other big tests
Canes vs Landers Final and the 2016 final.
Bmac getting 300 at the Basin
All Whites vs Bahrain
Black Caps vs England at the WCSo many memorable moments and that’s only touching the surface.

Weather has definitely improved from this morning but still windy.
