RWC QF: All Blacks v Ireland

The young reserve props selections are interesting. I think the Irish pack is very mobile and they are trying to counter this. Williams is making every post a winner so selection justified and Nepo misses out vs the Irish but would he have played against the Boks or France? I think so. Just hope the young fellas can play out of their skins at set piece.

Retallick plays 80, and Scott Barrett shifts to six?
Whitelock to replace Frizzel
Papali’i to replace CaneThere's flexibility there to mix and match too
Not really. We are in a bit of trouble if Ardie goes down early.
-
I hope the "Shit Ritchie McCaw" has a rocket up his arse this weekend. He has seemed off the pace for a long time. I hope he throws egg all over my face this weekend.
-
I was thinking more about replacement, I guess.
Frizzle or maybe Cane would move to 8?
-
@Old-Samurai-Jack well that would be the ultimate sledge after 78 mins if we have the game, Cane standing over POM after winning a t/o "I might be a poor mans McCaw, but you will never get past the 1/4 finals!"
But we know he would never do that.

At least the end of two decades of suffering from Foster's inconsistent coaching marches ever closer....
Knowing our luck the BOP RU will pick him up as head coach...

@mariner4life Fozzie must have shares in the ISP that the Fern runs off because traffic has never been higher after he picks the team

Wouldn't Papali'i cover 8? Not sure if it would be him or Frizzel, but think he's played a few games there? Or might just be my imagination. Anyone would be a step down anyway.

Case after evry team naming regardless ACT, you have to remember the ones who know the most ,post, and those that don't just do it!
Well if you believe what you read on forums.

@Kiwiwomble whats to upvote, it's a press release, I only upvote people's opinions.

So our best winger gets the same AB punishment for missing a curfew as the Tongan got for assaulting two people. That makes as much sense as the Ginga's selection in the RWC squad let alone the bench for this match.
I've got nothing more to add that others haven't already said, I hope the Tugboat and the Ginga have the game of their lives this weekend.

I can’t upvote my own post….
I actually don’t mind the team.
The things I would’ve liked changed were never going to happen because they have been set in stone for a while - ie Beaudie on the bench, Cane not the starting 7.
I’m not a fan of Christie’s play but I’ve been a little nervous about Roigard’s play also. For me this is an 80 minute game for Smith if ever there was one.
Fainga’anuku might surprise. He does know how to break the first tackle which I think will be critical. Not sure what has happened regarding his turning because earlier in the season he looked fine.
I like the two young props on the bench. I’ve been pretty critical about Ofa and Nepo’s form falling off the cliff. These two boys will be hungry.
May not be a popular position but I’m not overly enamoured with ALB on the bench. But it was always going to be him given the squad make up so nothing to be critical about there. For me the ideal bench player for the ABs is Reece, but he’s back home injured.

Question worth considering regarding Telea, was the punishment decided by the player leadership group?
Does that group include Scott Barrett, Taylor, Whitelock and Mounga?
I heard that Williams, Newell and Jordan had also been promoted to the leadership group. And McCaw and Carter are in France so they had a say too.

I pretty sure those with Coles, Nuggett and BR are the leadership group that met early in year (jan/feb)

You’re suggesting there’s leadership in this team?

I am! I can't be as anti or negative mate!

Fair enough mate, the one thing ST brings is ability to get over the gainline and dominant tackles.
Ireland have a well oiled system that is functioning very well.
If you look at the Scotland game they had a tone of ball and made a lot of metres which didn’t result in points. This is mainly to Scotland not being able to stress the Irish system enough to really hurt it. They were very good at being able to repel it.
My point is we need to be able to get over the gainline in order to be able to put pressure on Ireland defence and Sami T is the best hooker at doing that and he will certainly be more effective at that than Dane Coles.
