now we are so holier than thou that we don't do it.
TBH I don't think that's why you're not as dominant as you were.
- Maintaining that level of dominance is statistically close to impossible
- Your development systems aren't producing quite the level of player you had.
Would I be sad if NZ beat Ireland? Fuck no.
I'm certainly not saying it's the only reason the abs are poor. Fosters tactics is the main one. But cane barely talks to the ref, good teams are in their ear all game. It sucks, but it's a simple fact. Fucking rassie won the lions series when not even on the Pitch!

And if you don't win this RWC it will be the biggest choke ever, along with England women last year
I'm sure the France and South Africa teams might think the same given their recent dominance and performances.
For Ireland, it would be not winning a quarterfinal again despite having a pretty good team this time round. But then again, they said that in 2007 too. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.
Not sure what the reference to England women means.

They were beaten by NZ in the women's final, despite being favourites.

..and 3) other teams are so much better prepared and coached and funded than before?

You've been on the Fern for so long and still find us less insufferable than Irish rugby fans?

Like Ireland, England women were ranked number 1, and were on a record win run. England women choked so badly, they had smashed NZ previous games by record margins. But lost therwc final. If Ireland don't win this world cup, it would be the biggest choke in mens rugby, no other team had come into the RWC on the back of such a winning run

@Machpants 2007 ABs would like to say hi. 2007 was a massive choke (the nadir that would take them to the promised land in many ways).
Henry’s ABs won 42 from 48 between 2004 to 2007 (87.5% win ratio), won 30 from 33 prior to QF, losing only to a strong SA and competitive Oz away from home. Didn’t lose a game to a NH team at all in that time.
Best France 3-47 in Lyon in 2016, 11-23 in Paris in 2016 and 42-11 in Auckland.
Then imploded in Cardiff.

Totally but we're objectively fucked over by the ref. And still weren't on a 17 match streak

Hang on, is this a 'we choked more than you choked' competition?
-
@nostrildamus Absolutely!

Precisely. Ireland haven't even won an RWC knock-out match yet. It's their quadrennial nemesis. If they fail again on Saturday, it's just more of the same - hopeless at knockout matches. No one has them as favourites to win the RWC - SA, NZ and Fra have been ahead of them with the bookies.

@Derm-McCrum But if they do win, they've never lost a semi or final. Unlike the rest

Very good. Very true. They haven't.
-
@Derm-McCrum Paddy Power would disagree with you about Ireland being the favourites
-
@Derm-McCrum In fact, pretty much all the bookies are calling you out on the claim that ireland aren't favourites

Are we speaking in context of the entire group?

Well that's changed. So joint favourites with France now. Hmmm.
