Apparently it's a whole new piece and was restored. Therefore I blame the nzru. Otherwise probably laws of average given we have probably held it the most the last twenty years.

On the plus side given we have it for the next nine months should be plenty of time to repair/re-brake it.

The Peace Cup, played for at Sub Union level in the North Island is still in its damaged state but inside a case. They probably won't do that for the shield.
