What’s giving me some optimism as an Irish fan is the fact that the SA management seem to be reacting to Ireland in terms of tactics and selection. They really seem to be talking themselves up, which is something that generally you’d expect the lesser team to be doing. Dare I say it, but they sound and are acting like we used to sound and act when we knew that we were the underdogs. Might as well enjoy it while we can.
Nah they are not talking themselves up, they are 100% confident in the belief in what they are doing and how they plan to execute it. I never remember an Ireland team in the past talking themselves up either to be honest, not sure were that is coming from. I have no doubt the South Africans believe they are the better team and are relishing showing that off in this match.

@game_film that interview is posted on another thread. it was very refreshing to hear someone say something sensible about dealing with rush defence finally, just a shame it wasn't a NZer.
we still seem to think the best way to deal with it is a shitload of short kicks, combined with getting caught behind the advantage line. which is a particular fucking travesty when we have had the world's best passing halfback in the side for about a decade.I did notice us attacking the blind a lot more this year, one way to beat the rush defense is to avoid it I guess.
And for the 7-1 Are forwards really that tired after 40 minutes anyway? Would have thought everyone is pretty fit nowadays.
Maximise optimal performance. And many of your forwards look like they prefer weights to cardio

Just hoping both teams leave each other battered, bruised and broken (spiritually and emotionally) with nothing left in the tank for the rest of the tourney. Lots of high tackles, Sexton screaming at the ref and banned again, endless stoppages, refs yellow carding players faking injury, uncontested scrums, 10 fake HIAs used as rest periods, Rassie going off post match, controversial red cards. Give me rugby at its absolute worst for a couple of hours, cannot wait.

Absolutely get fucked to France for inflicting late start times on everywhere else in the world. 3am is bullshit.
Love be a 9 pm kick off. Thanks France!

@Billy-Tell You could do it at anywhere on a Saturday between 3 and 7. Don't make me stay up this late for a meaningful competition.
