Canterbury vs Wellington

Haha, WTF is that call. I'd be furious if I was Wellington... though on second look, perhaps Grace was never released? Certainly not a scrum!
-
Ref evening up the penalty count early in the second half.

Favouring Canterbury for sure
-
This is a comedy.
-
Wellington blow another try. No he clearly got it down
-
That's a beautiful try.
-
Complain about Morgan all you like, but that was a great pass.
-
Fantastic try by Welly.
-
I am loving this. The commentators are doing a great job.
-
@Stargazer yeah that was lovely.
-
Riley Higgins runs excellent lines as a 12. Huge future.
-
@Stargazer great composure from Morgan to sum up which support player to use
-
Hat-trick.
-
This game deserves golden point. It has been carnage.
-
@KiwiMurph yeah he’s a very smart footballer and has the size to back it up.
-
Great defense Morgan. Not
-
What a game this has been. Best of the season in terms of the whole entertainment package.
-
Higgins again - kid is a star
-
Shit read from Alaimalo, no idea why they took Murray off.
-
@KiwiMurph if I were the Blues ,that’s where I would be looking
-
@Steven-Harris no chance. He’s signed up.
-
Can't afford to sit behind J Barrett... I'd have him in Dunners!
-
Oh no, Mataele injured again. He has no luck.
-
@Stargazer 100% he can play both adequately.
-
Wellington deservedly will get home here. Fitting that Bredin missed a clear forward pass before the knock on.
-
Wellington extend their winning run. Awesome performance from a young team.
-
Great game of rugby. Think these two and Auckland look to be quite comfortably the best three sides in the competition.
As for Jono Bredin, I'd give him a big fat D. Let the game flow, but missed plenty, and had some of the bizarrest interpretations I've seen in a long time.
-
Huge opportunity missed by Canterbury.
Wellington the only undefeated team left- the team to beat.
-
@KiwiMurph still got Perenara, Savea and Aumua to come back aswell. In a great position, but I’m sure they won’t get ahead of themselves.
-
@Canes4life not sure J Savea is much use these days
-
Well, I'm surprised we got up, but maybe I shouldn't. Not the top team but we seem to have a lot of quality in our squad again this year.
Lakai and Higgins stand outs.
Preston with some dodgy kicks but his service is night and day above Paraparas.
-
@foobaNZ Lakai, Numia, Plummer, Higgins and the Clarke brothers were awesome today. Shields and Bird influential in the first half.
-
@Canes4life And Southall. He was very impressive.
-
@frugby certainly pushing for a Canes spot. Not bad for a player that’s only recently reverted to hooker. Just needs to keep improving on that lineout throwing.
-
Going back to Higgins, thought PUJ was also outstanding today, and in theory that is the Canes backup midfield. Add to that Sullivan, and realistically one of them if not two will have to be out the door by 2025. Supposedly PUJ was heading to the Landers, but that all went very quiet.
-
Excellent game. A join to watch
Final result
Wellington B 36
Canterbury 31Higgins has a VG game and must start at 2nd 5 going forward. Class player. PUJ is a much better center than 2nd 5 but Proctor has the position locked up. Lakai was everywhere and over-all this forward pack went well.
The key though is we might have found the starting 1st 5 and HB. Morgan is just too up and down. And he hinders not helps skillful backline play. Canes and Wellington took a punt and it hasn't worked out. I just hope he isn't signed for another year as he needs to be let go.
Canterbury just looked out of sync for some reason. Maybe it's the Ellison defense. So, 5 out of 5. A great start to his head coaching career

Blair Murray has always been very quick. I first saw him come off the bench for the Chiefs U18s and cut the Crusaders U18s apart. Starred for the NZS team later that year. But he's another who lacks size at the top level.
