All Blacks vs Springboks - Twickenham

@ACT-Crusader and if we meet them again in the RWC, they will need to temper thier complacency.

Also, why the fuck don't NZ teams clear the ball from our own 22. It seems like a disease in all NZ rugby. Two of the tries (I think) can be partially attributed us fucking around.
It is quite unbelievable, and it has been this way for a number of years. I'd like to know the percentage of opposition tries related to this "disease" in the last four years. It is almost inevitable in an AB game.

I don’t know about others, but I’m less concerned about this result than other losses. It had a bit of the Chicago match feel to it.
It’s strange because I hate losing to the Boks - my hatiest team by far.
Yeah it’s a loss and much will be made of it given its proximity to the RWC, but I don’t think it means squat. I doubt the team will be thinking about last night when they run out against France or the other pool matches.
I had a fear before the game that they might bring a lot more intensity than us due to us feeling a bit more satisfied on how 2023 has gone to date , and them probably feeling like they need a big performance to make up for mt smart .
I get what you mean with the Chicago comparison,
heads not in the game, pants pulled down.

@booboo Fozzie and his team has certainly given us a roller coaster ride since 2019...the ride is almost over, I expect a couple more twists and turns still in store for us.
I'm confident, and the previous 4 wins didn't change my mind, that Foster will hold another 'record' for first-ever pool loss in an RWC. We'll play Ireland in the quarters, they will easily top their pool. That's my only hope that Ireland somehow cannot get the quarters monkey off their back - but reality says we're out then.
ABs back down to fourth in rankings, a position they have only ever held under Foster.

@kev SB's cleanout wasn't too different to Perth, and we know how that ended up.
You can’t have it both ways. We want guys hitting rucks and clearing bodies. He is our best by a long way. Sure he got it wrong because he had moved to side. But wasn’t dirty. He is the best NZ forward.
That was 100% dirty
The YC was the correct decision

@MiketheSnow what were your thoughts on Kolbes forearm to Roigards head after he scored?

Vermuelen is it? Punching Jacobsen 3 times in the head.
The third of which seemed particularly forceful.
Cane asked Carley about this to which he replied "no foul play" "and to stop holding players in the rucks".
Should have been a penalty to SA
Off your feet, out of the game
Deliberately holding a defender in
From that distance it looked more like slaps and forceful pushes than punches

Didn’t see a replay of it
Came in to dislodge the ball IMHO
If he did hit him in the head then he should have been censured there and then
Could well be cited
Any clips?

If you couldn’t see the colour of the shirts and didn’t hear the names you’d swear you were watching England
When it’s good it’s very, very good (eg RWC 19 SF), when it’s bad it’s horrid (their warm up matches the past month)
Alarmingly like England there was no Plan B
And as the pressure mounted, instead of grinding it out and kicking the leather off the ball it was all a bit too training ground and fancy
Once that obviously failed then it was a succession of penalties and cards
It’s a simple game
Win possession, control it
Play rugby in the opposition 22
SA did exactly that and cantered home

@MiketheSnow i havent seen any, however it wasnt a major, but seemed decent contact and seems too many players dive on players, knees first, shoulder, arms or whatever in the act of scoring and are almost always ignored, totally pointless, Kolbe was never dislodging the ball.
Elsewhere on the field, pen for sure.
Barrets act was more boneheaded than filthy IMO.

Agreed
One of my pet peeves
Borderline interpretation of Scooter
The end result was dirty

@mariner4life I agree that it’s with the players, but the management are either coaching or allowing it to happen.

If the ABs do play the Boks in a knockout game - then in the days leading up Foster needs to front up to the media and go on the offensive about their players time wasting. And then Cane needs to get at the ref aggressively before the game has even started.
Nice guys will finish last in the next couple months.

I still don't know what to make of Jacobsen. I feel he hasn't had enough of a go.
He's displayed enough to show he isn't an option in the starting 6 jersey.

@taniwharugby yes boneheaded. No video evidence that the impact was head but cleaning out a guy on the ground is never a good look. But against that is I have never thought of Scott as dirty player. Just someone that hits hard, runs hard, has a huge motor, creates momentum with whatever he does. Sometimes in a contact sport played at high speed, it goes wrong. I think some of the the comments about players intelligence and intent on here miss the mark - but understandable when we lose 😀. Generally I would say there are very few dirty players or even dirty actions in todays game - the guys know each other. However, we do want all the players to improve technique and make good decisions so he will add that to the things he needs to work on. Still my favourite Barrett by some distance.
