I think it's a smart move by Eddie if true. Way too much baggage in the old guard as you build for 2025/2027.
Does anyone honestly think he's going to last until 2025 let alone 2027? It's Eddie, his shelf life is way shorter than that, it's guaranteed he'll eventually have a bust up with Kim Jong McLennan as those two egos can't coexist for too long.
He took over Japan in 2012 and had them humming at RWC 2015.
He took over England in 2016 and had them humming at RWC 2019.

Can't believe they are dropping Len
It's not dropping - he has a shoulder injury

So the injury is worse than 'back for the first game' I guess
-
@Machpants lol how do you drop Ikitau, he’s arguably their best back. Eddie really has lost his marbles. His whole persona is kind of wearing thin now, I personally think he’s just not upto it. Neither are Australia tbh.

Neither ideal, but they maybe need to tie the ban to a minimum of the same level they got banned from?
Problem then being, does that mean they can't play levels below that? That then means if you've retired from international rugby or the coach doesn't like you, you're fucked!
-
@Bones dont be a gobby shite then
Am sure no way is ideal, but they probably need to put a marker down as to what level of match constitutes being a match counting toward your ban, I mean in this and SBW example, they will only 'miss' a certain game as it counts toward thier ban, but wer enever going to play it.
-
@taniwharugby In Super Rugby they did exactly that: preseason games, for example, don't count towards a suspension.
