What! Can only imagine how many Taylors wines Eddie had consumed with some of those selections... only four locks and 5 loose forwards!

*I'm aware Kemeny is a loosie

That Aussie squad has to be the biggest "roll of the dice" in RWC selection history.

Nothing to lose I suppose. Fair play Eddie.

Yeah it comes with a built in excuse.

He'll claim there was an enormous amount of deadwood that he needed to cut. So this tournament has no expectations now

I saw some people talking about EJ losing his job after this RWC. I think he's safe no matter what. He's expensive, ARU is broke, they can't afford a payout

    @Duluth

His contract is until 2027 right? Maybe this selection as much about that RWC as this one

    @GibbonRib

Yes contracted until 2027. It does seem to be about setting up for the future, any success this year is a bonus

The biggest risk is that they mentally break Carter Gordon and ruin his massive potential

And next year, expect the mandatory departure of some assistant coaches.

A QF or SF exit will set up the Lions tour nicely

If by some miracle they win the damn thing then the Lions tour will be an even bigger financial success

Then hosting the 2027 RWC as RWC holders and/or Lions tamers will ensure sell outs across the board

That’s what Rugby Australia is praying for

loving the RC squads and their little quirks
    We've taken 5 wingers
The Boks have taken 4 halfbacks
The Aussies have taken one 10 and no goal kickers

    Revolutionary

All four of their locks are fit tho, we've only got 3

Also: Is Vunivalu the only Fijian that can't play wing in rugby?

Apparently Donaldson can play in the forwards so that is why he is sticking with him

Are you confused with Kemeny who they've picked as a loose forward/wing utility?

    Donaldson is a utility, too

    He's a utility cos he can play 10/15. He's not a forward.

Nope, forwards are listed under forwards, backs under backs, utilities (in Eddie Jones speak) can be both.

Just saw Handre Pollard, Lood de Jager and Lukhanyo Am were not named in the Bok World Cup squad.

These are bloody big losses, especially Pollard.
I am wondering if an "injury" might occur in the Bok camp to let him back in.

If we could place money on that happening, I would.

@Machpants Good point - but there's also no direct quotes that indicate Donaldson is looked at as a forward - but there are for Kemeny. This is the closest I could find from Eddie.

“(Ben) Donaldson trained all week at fullback and we know he can play ten well.”

The most bizarre selection is Skelton as captain. He's not an 80 min player, especially in a high tempo game.

Australian fans should be pissed and what they have been served up by head office this year.

what the fuck do i know? Apparently it's all good in the hood

if The Roar is to be believed, Eddie Jones is doing fucking amazing things for the Wallabies. Losing? often badly? bah that's old shit. Dropping two old guys means he's cutting the dead wood. Yeah, big revolution, cutting a guy that's hurt, and wasn't playing well before that. And cutting another guy that wasn't playing well either. The Eddielution is here! get on board.

    Edit: or rather, Layylawaassa

    No. No I haven't.

Then you watched even less super rugby than I did.

    That's probably not Eddie's fault
