That's a good try. Springer gets the double.

Helped by a leadfooted concrete boot wearing No 23 for Otago. What position does he normally play?

    Try to Te Hiwi.

One more try please, Ta$man. Don't stuff up my tipping.

Hotham has added big time , much more of a threat than Chapman

Angus Mabey is a terrible ref... can't do the scrums for the life of him.

    FT: Ta$man 27 - 15 Otago

Deserved win to Ta$man, although Otago looked strong in the 2nd half. If Otago can iron out the mistakes that stopped them from converting their try-scoring opportunities, they'll fare much better than tonight.

@SouthernMann is he smaller than D-Mac..?

Yeah I reckon he is. Both are tiny blonde fullbacks from Gore though!

Smaller by a mile. Hurley is Tanaka sized.

On to next week. Don't think we are overly far away. Really tough game for Hurley first up. Will be interesting to see how we bring in Faleafaga, Millar, Stodart and Co.

Otago fan in me is a bit down...just a bit blunt.. Ta$man always seemed to have numbers on attack and defense

Highlanders fan in me is a bit positive about next year

Felt as if some of our young lads didn't quite know how to put themselves into the game. Didn't see much of Whaanga much in the second half

@SouthernMann Think it was just the way the game flowed with Whaanga. He was just tidy... a centre not a winger. Hurley had a shocker though, he is just too small unfortunately.

His size certainly wasn't the reason he dropped several balls.

@SouthernMann Disagree, I think it is. Doesn't have the strength to hold onto the ball - which is sized-based. You just can't fight your size.

I reckon he is a similar size to Kolbe, who is one of the outstanding outside backs in footy at the moment.

Got a bit of Tyrion Lannister about him. 🙂

Pretty error-ridden performance - early-season NPC. Hopefully will get better. Starting with a win is always good and something to build on.

@SouthernMann Hurley is wayyyy smaller than Kolbe. Hurley looks like a midget next to Nareki, who himself is 1.74m.

Apart from his try assist, I saw nothing from Havili who could make me believe he will be on the plane to France.
