Australia v All Blacks - Bled I

I’m starting to think this game might be tighter than the form suggests .
Aussies will surely improve with the increased time together with the new coach, and not so certain we will go into it with the same ferocity that we did against the boks .

@TheMojoman it’s going to be interesting which way they go. Whitelock has only come off the bench in 3 tests of his last 35 tests. Those 3 were against Italy, Fiji and Canada. When he’s fit he’s more likely to start than not.
Hard to leave Barrett out of the starting lineup given his form and impact, but I’d like to see Frizell given another test. He’s had two very good outings so far, let’s ride it.
If Taylor starts do you start the crusader pair of locks together for familiarity, and bring samosoni and Brodie on together
-
@kiwiinmelb surely it is Samisoni's turn to start...

I have a feeling there is a red card coming in this game.
Swain or Swinton in the team?
Beaudy is the next Barrett vs OZ red, surely
-
@taniwharugby yeah I wasn’t sure if they are grooming him to be that impact guy or not .
Unrelated - dallas McLeods parents allegedly on a plane to Melbourne, could that mean he’s in the 23 .?
-
-
I like the idea of Whitelock coming on with 15 to go as a calm head to close it out, whether it be for a tiring Retallick, or for extra discipline over Scott Barrett.
-
If McLeod's parents are on the plane, would be a fair indication he is playing - I'd expect him to be on the bench... I'd personally like the midfield left as is, I know ALB has struggled with a bit of illness the past week so perhaps he wasn't considered ready for a return?
-
I thought Roigard would make the bench, but would be ballsy to have two debutants as back reserves

I know which debutant I would prefer to make the RWC squad. The only way McLeod is in France is at the expense of Ennor and/or Havili.
I'll be interested in which winger misses out in the XV - Telea or Clarke.
-
@Bovidae There was a headline about being bold... perhaps Fozzy and co. really don't see the Aussies as a threat, and are confident worst case scenario they can trolley them under the roof.
Starting backline will be unchanged I'd think... would they go with McLeod and ALB on the bench?
-
-
Narawa wont play (not fit), Leister maybe (only deemed fit this week), Stevenson in squad wont play (coaches don't like him) . Macleod hasn't played. ALB hasn't played. Coach doesn't award participation awards though as we have seen previously. So maybe not too many changes in starting backline, but I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or 2 changes at max

It's good to see they are involving some of our greats too!!
Given the coverage they are getting, it makes you think they havent done this before, and even more, why not?
He's also worked closely with All Blacks great Conrad Smith, who's been with the team this week to share advice on his area of expertise for a very eager audience in a coaching cameo at Mt Smart.
Smith won two World Cups as part of an iconic tandem with second-five Ma'a Nonu in 2011 and 2015, before stepping away from test rugby and opening the door for Lienert-Brown as his successor.
"It's awesome to have a legend like him in the group," Lienert-Brown noted. "He doesn't say a lot, but I think when he does say something, it's pretty special and obviously the [midfielders] take that on board.
"Just having his presence around the group is massive." -

Given our success against the boks Sir Ritchie should be flown to Europe for every pre game session later this year

Sounds like it could be 9 McDermott 10 Gordon 13 Petaia 15 Kellaway and 23 Perese for the Wallabies.
I think it's the right call. I can see Wallabies wide game stressing the ABs defence.

Ah, you see Clarke playing?
