@Chris Do you have any word on what's going to happen with the Crusaders props and, particularly, which side they're planning to play Big Tamaiti?
Presumably, next year we will have Newell, Williams, Bower and Brewis - which is either two tightheads and two looseheads, or one tighthead and three looseheads.
If the former, then Sykes-Martin would be a decent third loosehead - and Calder probably a third tighthead.
If the latter, we wouldn't need KSM, but I think we'd want to recruit a better second tighthead than Calder (who would be OK as third-string).
I'd rather see Tamaiti playing loosehead, though.
I think they are talking about promoting Seb Calder
and KSM and using Tamiti and Bower to cover TH.
but I think they will use Tamati as no.1 LH and no.2 TH if that makes sense.
It is very hard to find another decent TH with experience in NZ. -
@Chris Sort of what they were planning this year, since I think we started with (in my eyes):
LH Tamaiti, Joe, George and Finlay
TH Fletch & Owen.I want to see Tamaiti playing plenty of loosehead, because I think that's his future in the ABs - and I think he and Fletcher are our best pair of props.

That looks like the plan with Bower as LH impact off the bench.
Yeah inclined to agree about Tamaiti as a LH, It will interesting how he goes this weekend at TH. -

Which of the Blues first fives do you think we should poach?
I don't think they can hold onto all of Beauden, Plummer and Perofeta, when we can offer a starting berth to one!
I see Zarn Sullivan ending up at the Crusaders with the promise of playing 10...

I really hope not,Sullivan is not a first five imo.

@Chris I'm not too unhappy with halfback - Hotham has progressed to a point where he's clearly number one and already in the AB conversation - probably as much as Bryn Hall ever was. I wouldn't pick him yet, but he's promising enough to get there in the not too distant future.
Drummie is fine for another year - we just need to ensure the new guy we recruit is also very good bet to get to AB standard. Halfback has been one of our weaker positions in recent years.
I'm a bit annoyed with Fergus Burke signing offshore. Seems like he had a chance to be an AB contender, but he's taken the money without ever taking the shot.
Will be interesting what they do at first five.

Kemara has one more year on his contract and Reihana was only signed for one year,So a lot of work to be done in that space.

Reihana is OK as a number 2 option, but not who you'd want to be hanging your hat on. Kemara is probably OK as No. 3 - but he's still just a promising young 'un.
I reckon Dave Havili was better than both, but then we're shifting our best 2nd five, which is far from ideal.
Maybe we grab Carter Gordon from the Rebs?
