@Chris David Havilli didn't look good maybe out also, why don't the crusaders play McLeod in midfield?, Aumua looks lost to me ,
Yeah Calf strain at least 3 or 4 weeks.
McLeod may get his chance now he did play 2nd five against the chiefs and had a shocker.

I think the other sides are in a better position at 10 though?
Chiefs: McKenzie, Ioane & Trask. Then they call up NPC player of the year Jacomb (another guy the Crusaders could've recruited)
Blues: Perofeta, Cashmore, Plummer, the mythical ability of Sullivan and maybe Barrett
Canes: They've been going well with Cameron, Godrey, Morgan & utility ability from Barrett & Love
Highlanders went for a Welshman but Ajay seem like a good bet for the future. Not sure about Millar
The Chiefs barely gave Reihana game time and I doubt anyone was in a rush to sign Kemara?
Agree the other teams look better at 10, but realistically what options did the Saders actually have? I don't know how the contracting works and who may have turned the Saders down. Jacomb was uncontracted wasn't he(?) so he might have been a missed opportunity. Who knows he may have said no thanks.
Speaking of players saying no, I have been a bit concerned at the number of players who apparently turned down advances from the Saders the last few years.

It's quite possible that a number of them thought they had better prospects of getting on the field in other franchises. When Mo'unga's fit, you know you're not making the 23.

That would definitely be a factor for some players.

Yeah that would be a factor
My main point is that it is not all Penney. Yes he’s shit. There have been recruitment problems, the quality coming out of the Canterbury system has dropped back to the pack. Plus the players aren’t performing. Some appear in poor physical shape (attitude?)

I have read on here a couple of times the last few days about some Saders appearing out of shape. I haven't noticed it myself. I am not disputing it, but who is looking unfit compared to previous seasons?
-
@Crazy-Horse Grace in particular

@Chris Far out when it rains it pours doesn't it? I know the feeling being a Blues supporter (was like this for us in the 2010s in particular and a fair bit in the 2000s).
Yeah Mate the wheels and the rims have fallen off I think we are driving on the belly now

Grace and Christie and Moody and Heinz and Havili and Aumua for a start, Actually Reece might be the only one looking fitter

If true, you'd think those guys would be experienced enough to know what's required.

Yeah, they know when the business end of the season is...

@Nevorian If Christie is so unfit he has done well to currently be the comps top tackler with 111 in 5 games, 31 more than the second best (Bell also from the Crusaders, with Harmon 3rd with 78).
If they're spending most of the game without the ball, that could impact those figures. Surely someone can offset the figures against team possession?

Admit I didn’t check his tackle stats, I was thinking more of his fitness at getting around the park and getting to the breakdown which doesn’t seem as prevalent this season. Guess he is just knackered from making all of those extra tackles
-
Christie may be very limited as an openside, but one thing you can't criticise is his effort aound the park. The guy always puts in a shift ad never takes a backward step.
Out of all the Crusaders, he's one of the last who should be in the firing line in terms of criticism.
