Crusaders 2024

Some comments in this article about the injuries:
In terms of when help might arrive, prop Joe Moody (Covid) should be fit to face the Blues at Eden Park on Saturday, but it’s unlikely other reinforcements will be on hand until after their bye. That includes first five-eighth Fergus Burke, despite Penney keeping the door slightly ajar for his return from a busted Achilles before their week off in round seven. “He's a probably a 5% chance before the bye, very minimal but not totally excluded.

Franks yellow upgraded to Red.

Toby Arnold,
36 years old! They will soon be able to field a useful Golden oldies team at this rate.
-
@Bones What?!?!
I haven't come on here to be a dick or disrespectful or anything, but wtf is up with these signings? Did Toby Arnold even play Super Rugby when he was here about 15 years ago?
Man what a bizarre signing even if it is only a short term deal.
-
@African-Monkey jeez the Crusaders have hit an all time low. If that guy starts they won’t be making the playoffs.

Yeah back to the future?
No idea, it seems very much like a cahsed up Euro club buying aging stars to try an make success.
Without the cash
Therefore without the stars, unless they are really passe their best before
Better off investing in youth the u/20s have some good talent in their squad.
Develop for the future if this season is a write off use it as a development year.
Not a fucking Pension for the old aged past it players. -
@Chris That would be nice as yes, we all have our teams we love and hate, but for a powerhouse franchise, we need them to be bringing through talent as it benefits our national team going forward, as opposed to their pathways being blocked by a bunch of 70 year Olds.
Surely just playing they younger crop will have a bit of short term pain but end up with long term gain?

Ok I have not said much when we signed Crotty,Halfpenny,Heinz then Franks
Was not impressed
Then McNicol now Arnold well I can now confirm Rob Penny,James Marshall especially have completely lost the plot. Can you please inform me why James Marshall and Dan Perrin got appointed Crusaders assistants? They have lead Ta$man to 7th, 8th, 7th since they've been there, they have lost far more games than they've won and the Mako$ have looked abysmally coached under their watch. It just doesn't make any sense to me, they haven't got a coaching record that justifies their roles.

I don’t know why to be honest,
I thought they were bad decisions at the time.
Razor Scott Hansen and Tamiti Ellison were the real brains of the operation over the last few years. -

Yep 100% that is what I would be doing.
No short term or long term future in these old selections IMO. -

Razor Scott Hansen and Tamiti Ellison were the real brains of the operation over the last few years.Interesting that Ellison is also part of the All Black's coaching staff now, he seems highly rated by Razor.
I guess it begs the question for me does he continue his current position (All Black's tackle & breakdown coach) if he gets the Crusaders head job in 2026 - as most people assume will happen? Hard to imagine that one could manage the workload of both?

You would think he would not stay on with the ABs but take up the HC Crusaders role for long term gain as a HC.
