Ashes 2023

Wood with a 6 off Cummins
-
11 to go
-
6 to go

Haha that was too far out for Carey. He tries the hero catch when Boland was there
-
England need 1 to win.
-
England win.
Fitting that Wood and Woakes are there because they did it with the ball.

Am away at mo but saw what was needed last day and thought pre Ashes England it’s a walk in the park. This current England woujd struggle.
Glad to see the win, keeps the series alive and gives a staunch middle finger to the 5-nil ers who never gave England cricket any credit despite a year of superb results.
Oz still strong faves for series but Poms alive!
Surely Bairstow is done for a bit.

Yeah, it's funny seeing all this stuff about how bazball is shite, how much better Aus are as a team, how much better they are man for man than England and then how shit England have been playing, how so many guys have thrown their wicket away and yet we have had three very close matches.

On here? Because I think on here everyone thought it was close
But one team talked a huge game and for once it wasn't the Aussies. And thus the fern jumped on the Australian bandwagon (super begrudgingly)I'm just reveling in the graphic illustration you don't win without Josh hazlewood
Great series of test cricket

Yeah. On here. Check the next post after yours 😀
On the subject of talking oneself up, I have found some of the comments a bit cringey, but take out Robinson’s utterings and there’s not that much to get frothy about. He has been embarrassing though.
I have to say I’m not sold on him at all. His averages seem pretty good so far but he doesn’t make me feel particularly confident as he trundles up to deliver the ball. I wouldn’t play him together with Anderson and Broad and I still wouldn’t pick him over either of them.

@Catogrande indeed.
McCullum has been criticized for daring to suggest England could win.
I tend to enjoy the Ashes banter and England went in the back of some really good results and hence had some confidence.
Few daft comments here n there but so what?

We did make up a really cool song worthy of the best the Barmy Army could come up with though.

It's a shame that it'll never make sense to the rest of the world.
If you explain the joke, it isn't funny any more.
But……again……well done England. I didn’t think they could do it but they did. They’ve well and truly brought the series to life. This neutral is loving it.
Warner is absolutely done. Is Steve Smith following the same path ? Only averaging a pathetic 58 now.
As for loose bus change perhaps he was never that good to start with and just had a freakish start to his career that is petering off now ?

There are several good things about this result. One is that it keeps a very close series alive. Another is that the microscope finally goes on several of the Australian thrown away wickets etc, which got papered over by their wins.
To throw it the other way... On the batting stats a couple of pages back, Warner is done, Smith is not having a usual Ashes series, and Labuschagne and Carey would look right at home in a 2000's Black Caps batting card. Cummins overbowls himself, has poor tactics in the field, and Boland has turned out to be a Home v Away bowler after all.
But for all that they still won the first two Tests, so the joys of sport and cricket
Surely, surely Baz can't keep picking Bairstow ahead of Foakes. If Cameron Green is fit again, Australia may as well open with Mitchell Marsh. Or promote Labuschagne, given he's effectively doing it anyway.

He could become this generations Shane Watson ! I hope he’s been practicing his reviews.
