Ashes 2023

It was pure sloppiness by Bairstow. He was almost wandering out of his crease before Carey caught it. The idea that Oz should have withdrawn the appeal and not doing so almost cost them the match (BBC Cricket chief correspondent) is pure fantasy

Some funny heat of the moment comments in the aftermath from Stokes and McCullum. Stokes didn't mind too much the manner in which he won the World Cup at the same venue. And McCullum had form for some interesting dismissals himself (Murali).
The MCG or Eden Park would have been no better than Lords, but the uniqueness of also walking through the Long Room probably didn't help today. Three Lords Members have been suspended.

Good response from the MCC.
Re the Bairstow dismissal, it's a bit like a Mankad. It's in the rules but is it in the spirit of the game. Well the latter is always in the eyes of the beholder isn't it? So, tough but suck it up and don't be a twat next time and leave the crease. having said that I really did like Broad’s theatrics, asking Carey or Square Leg Ump each time if he could leave his crease.

Fuck you stokes you plastic ginger fuck
I was pulling you off before but now you can eat a box of cocks
You claimed a fucking world cup off a piece of shit that wasn't cricket. Where was your spirit then? Nowhere. Because you are ginger and therefore without spirit
And fuck off BMac.
5-0

That was a terrific game of test cricket.
I mean, I only actually saw a bit of it but what a great see sawing contest.
Heroic effort from England there but they still fell short. Will be interesting if they try and reign things in a bit and play more proper ‘test’ cricket in the next few matches.
Australia all class.

Was it a particularly strong red this evening?

And delicious. Tuscan red for the win
Unlike English kiwi red aye stokesy?

The only thing with the Barstow dismissal is that apparently Carey had noticed it happening a few times and decided to try for the run out. My personal take on the 'spirit of cricket' is that you'd give him a warning first then run him out the next time he did. Maybe Carey did that, I haven't read all the coverage because the English insane reaction just makes it painful to read about. It's a marginal call, and ranks a pretty long way down the list of 'shit things Australian keepers have done'.

Can't believe im saying this
but OZ definitely in the right here.
Bairstow, what a fucking muppet. Every age grade kid playing cricket knows STAY IN YOUR FUCKING CREASE!! until the ball is dead/no longer in play.
What the fuck was he thinking? and what the fuck did he think would happen.
