Ah! The joys of the steadfast UK media.

Read his book - At the Close of Play - when in came out. Really boring read. Hard to believe it's the same bloke listening to him.

91 runs in a match is a good return.
Will be interesting how long Australia bat for, they’re in a great position. How’s the weather forecast ?
No Lyon could well be a massive factor though.

Not specific to the current series, but very sad news about Allan Border. For a few years in the 80s it seemed like he was THE Australian team. First man to 11,000 test runs.
Sad news.
I know we were supposed to hate Aussie cricketers out of principle but I never really did and Border was an absolute legend back in the day, the way he held that team together was incredible. The cliche of the stubborn Aussie battler was personified in how he played and handled himself. He must have loved the last few years when he played with some of the fellow legends who followed him into the team.
The very definition of a guy you’d want to bat for your life.
Hope he’s doing as ok as can be expected.

Although he became Captain Grumpy following the 1985 Ashes in England, he was still a very well respected guy over here. He was the one batsman that stood out in the 1981 series here and he was also the hardest bugger to get out in the 1985 series over here. Always a highly prized wicket.

He adopted that persona deliberately didn’t he ? I read he wanted to do all he could to win and being surly towards the opposition was part of that plan.
